- For my daughters 3rd, I invited 6 or 7 or my friends and their children, I cooked fish fingers and peas with chips and gave out home baked cakes. I bought a small birthday cake for her to blow out the candles we did not do any games as my daughter would not have understood them and I let them play for an hour they were happy as pie!

- Your tips on planning the party - writing out the schedule - are right on! You think you'll be able to remember, but when the party is underway you are so happy to have everything written down! I also agree on considering inviting more children than is often recommended. I find we can handle more (though my friend's older daughter needs to keep the numbers small - it's a personal thing). The other thing we run into is drop out and I think having a certain amount of kids generates energy for the party - we invited 3 others once and only had 1 other child due to illnesses!

- Loads of great ideas. It's great to find so many people who are also addicted to throwing unique parties for their kids. My main aim when organising a party for my kids is for people to say when they leave that it was the best party they have ever been to. Glad I'm not the only one out there!! 5 stars *****!

- Musical Chairs is my favorite party game but I like the new version where everyone sits on eachother's laps until only one chair is left. I don't like the way the old version left children out.
