About Biznik
Business networking at its finest
Biznik was created on November 1st, 2005 by the husband/wife team Dan McComb and Lara Eve Feltin. They held their first business networking meeting in March of 2005. Since then Biznik has grown by leaps and bounds as members and the media alike told others about it.Biznik is a business-building social network for indie professionals. That means folks who own and operate their own businesses, whether they are the head honcho of one or a team of twenty. Accountants, fashion designers, writers, sex therapists, business coaches, attorneys, marketing gurus, soap makers - and countless others - are all part of the Biznik mix.
Biznik offers a new way of networking. We refer to it as "radical self promotion" because it's not your typical me-first-take-no-prisoners kind of self promotion. For example, we emphasize collaboration over competition. And instead of requiring attendance at less-than-exhilarating meetings, our members host their own events on topics relevant to your indie business interests. In place of staid luncheons or way-too-early breakfasts, our members host happy hours where you can mix and mingle and talk business - or weather or sports or politics - on your terms. We're all big girls and boys, and we treat each other as such.
Biznik connects globally, but meets locally. Biznik has members in cities and towns across the U.S. and in a growing number of other countries. We encourage supporting your immediate community by hiring and purchasing locally, but why not build momentum on the indie business movement together, no matter what sea or state line falls between us? Exactly. There's really no good reason not to.
