I love the Kliban cat books. In fact, my cat avatar picture is named after Burton Russell "Grand Champion." There is one picture in particular that still makes me laugh when I think of it - the one where a pie is smashed against the wall and the owner looks over his shoulder at the cat with a smug look. In other words, the cat threw the pie! Hah!

Cats make for great cartooning, not everybody likes them but it's easy to make anyone laugh at their antics.

I love this lens! Sooo cute. My cat Mischief rocks. I would really appreciate it if you could take a look at my lens. It's about a new, self-published novel. If not I completely understand. Have a great 2012.

This is another case of my recognizing the art without knowing who the artist was. This was quite a learning experience for me, and an enjoyable one at that. Nice work!

Love the Kliban cats - great collection here! Think I want a calendar of Kliban cats for 2012, and a mug of course!

Great lens! A tribute to the Kliban Cat. Loved the Kliban Cat collectibles. Sundae ;-)

I am not too familiar with Kliban, although I am pretty sure there are mugs with Kliban on them.
  • Susan52 Jul 12, 2011 @ 9:47 pm | delete
Brenda, you're absolutely right! Mugs were lumped in with the Kliban collectibles, but I made a separate section above just for Kliban cat mugs on mugs. Thanks or the suggestion!

i remember the Kliban cats from my childhood too but I don't recall seeing them recently. Thanks for reminding me about these fancy felines. It was fascinating to read about the artist behind them. ~Blessed~

This lens remined me that I have a bunch of his coffee mugs somewhere in my house from the 1980's, I even had a sheet set of the Kliban Cats. Thanks for the memories... now, where are those mugs?

Please help ~ I collect Kliban rubber stamps and am trying to find out how many and which ones were made. I've contacted American Art & Rubber Stampede, who made them & no one has a clue. Thanks fellow Kliban fans!

Pammydi, I had a hard time finding information about Kliban cat items, too. Hopefully there will be other fans who visit this page and can help you out!

I love the Kilban cats (and all his other work too). His cats are funny and real without ever veering into overly-sweet.

I've loved the Kliban cats since childhood. My mom and I have a collection of mugs and books, as well as some other random Kliban memorabilia. Great lens on a wonderful artist!

Yep, as a cat lady, I am a huge fan of cats of all kinds -- and these are particularly special -- they are so cute!

Kliban was one of the best, for sure. Rolling this tribute to him to three of my own humble cartoon lenses.

My first apartment after college, in the late 70s, was decorated with Kliban--sheets, towels, mugs. I still have a pot holder from back then. Loved the slightly twisted, whimsical humor. Thirty years later, my son has Kliban in his dorm room!

It's great to see the Kliban cat with a spot on Squidoo, so a big thanks for making this lens. I haven't seen him around since I was a kid and not many people outside our family seem to know about him. Nice to meet up with him again!
  • mulberry May 23, 2008 @ 7:43 pm | delete
Yep, I remember him and I remember the "Love to eat them mousies..." ditty too!
  • stargazer00 Apr 28, 2008 @ 2:00 pm | delete
Love the Kliban cats. I had that t-shirt in the mid-70's. "Love to eat them mousies, mousies what I love to eat..."

    Susan52,

Big Kliban fan, but less so of the cats. You're clearly aware of the "division", shall we say. in his work. Nice lens. Informative and instructive.

Toot cute! We had Fat Cat when I was growing up and he was the spitting image and had the same funny attitude.
