From the lens Utilizing the Blackbox Module.

Great lens, very informative. I'm a newbie who will now start using blackboxes. Note a typo in "Adding Color to your Text" at #3. You have a closing tag facing the wrong way--could confuse other newbies.
  • wjfoster Mar 2, 2012 @ 4:05 pm | delete
Oh, nice! I'd never heard of this module - thanks so much!
  • curious0927 Feb 14, 2012 @ 5:49 pm | delete
Glad I found it! I had no clue we could do so much with the "black box". I use it for a Page Break usually. blessed!

I love how color and design affect the look of any page, online or off. Found this very useful as I am about to resume squidooing (squiding?) after a long hiatus. Thanks!

I haven't really played much with the blackbox. I really like the idea of adding a picture. Blessed
  • LiteraryMind Aug 12, 2011 @ 8:55 pm | delete
Thank you so much. Someone suggested I use blackboxes on my lenses to highlight certain things, but I had no idea how they would be used. This explains it all.
  • GonnaFly Jun 4, 2011 @ 12:15 am | delete
Great ideas! I must confess I've never tried adding coloured text to a blackbox. I must give that a try.
  • Jack-in-the-Box May 24, 2011 @ 3:02 pm | delete
Yes, but most of it is STILL greek. I will keep rereading it. I am not a computer geek, does it show??? Thanks for all the information.

This is outstanding! I thought I knew a lot about color but the use of the black box as you do is inspired. I can't wait to try it out. Thanks for sharing your hints. Favorited so I can find it again. (I use Trekkimelissa's Guide to Colors a lot too.) I'm also going to lensroll this to my lensography page which talks about why I love to use colors.
  • AnnieMorgan Mar 20, 2011 @ 4:07 pm | delete

I used your tips for my oreo lens. Many Oreos have different colored creme. Thus, I thought it would be cute to have black boxes with colored letters to represent the different colored cremes. I would never have thought of it without this lens. Thanks again.

Enjoyed your lens. I use the black box a lot, but haven't experimented with adding color to the text or adding pictures. I'm still a little vague on adding a picture - can you clarify the code for that?
  • purplelady Oct 2, 2010 @ 10:39 am | delete

Now I do; Thanks to SquiDooRoos! Great lens; and very colorful. :)

A fantastic lens, I've visited it before, but I wanted to refresh my mind again and I'm also featuring it on my Swimming with Giant Squids blog tomorrow as a great resource that embraces the idea of thinking 'outside of the box' or should that be blackbox!
  • Norma_Budden Apr 4, 2010 @ 10:18 am | delete
I just had to come back and take another look at this lens; it's still as radiant as ever.

I've been using the black boxes for dividers sometimes and for spotlighting key information. I've only used pictures a few times in them. Your tips should help me expand.

Up until now I've hardly used black boxes but you've really done a bang-up job of explaining them and I'll be sure to use them more. Thanks so much for the detailed instruction! I have a folder where I save lenses that I consider great learning tools and this one is going in that folder right now!

I just recently realized that you could add photos to the black box. I used a poster from all poster.com on my flag day lens and put it in a black box. I thought it looked great. This is a super idea for a lens and will let people know the many uses of the black box. Thanks
  • JaguarJulie May 20, 2009 @ 3:35 pm | delete
Yep -- I have been adding pictures and animations to my blackboxes since they became an available module. I particularly like the boxers that I've used to convey the debate theme in my monkeybrain lenses. I've also experimented with adding shaded colors as I would like to be able to customize the color of the blackbox like I customize my shading for modules to blend with my images. Nice to see how to use the blackbox explained so straightforwardly!

This is a cool module I use all the time, but yours are looking much better than mine. I'll have to keep this tips in mind for my next lens. I'm lensrolling this to my poll module lens. Great work! Squid Angel blessed!

I thought I'd stop by and see the clever uses you've found for using the Blackbox module and was so surprised to see my name. How thoughtful of you! It may be the only time I'll ever be credited for helping someone figure out codes, so I'm delighted. I love your ideas and have been trying to be more creative with the Blackbox module lately too. It has tons of potential when you think outside the box, no pun intended. :)
  • aj2008 May 18, 2009 @ 6:11 am | delete
Yeah! Thanks for sharing this and mentioning my post. (Good to see that it actually gets read!)

Which reminds me, I must jazz up some of my boxes and in the meantime here's a Blessing!
  • Jimmie May 18, 2009 @ 3:25 am | delete
Wow! I'm not a fan of the black black box (I prefer the colors), but the way you've added colored text and a graphic really makes it POP! A great how-to lens.

    You're officially blessed!
