Black on Black on Black Watches

Black on black on black watches are better known as blackout watches or black ops watches. But a blacked out watch is not necessarily a black ops watch.

When looking at Tactical Watches or a special ops watch it has to be able to do more than just look cool. As an example, let's take a look at this awesome Diesel Men's DZ7214 SBA Blackout Watch. It is an oversized black on black on black watch that will work very well on the street or in the night club but I doubt that it would last very long in the jungles of South America or the dessert sands of Saudi.

That doesn't make it a bad or poor watch. It is perfect for what it is designed for. A good night out on the town. But as I was saying, even though it is a blacked out watch, it does not mean that it would qualify as a spec ops watch. If it was just a bit tougher, it would be a good looking oversized black ops watch.

Hamilton has a long history of creating classic, beautiful timepieces. G-Shock watches must be the most popular watch among the special forces and military service members. Every time I am on base it seems like every troop that I pass has one of these bad boys swinging on their wrist.

For the price, who can blame them. Most G-Shock watches can be purchased for less than three Franklins. Just like the Ana-digi Face Watch that you see here to your left, it is just a smidgen over a hundred bucks.

You can not beat that price, especially if your trying to make a go at it on military pay.

Luminox Black Ops Watches

Luminox has to be the king of black out watches. Started in 1989 Luminox was all about being seen. "Lumi" is Latin for light and "Nox" is Latin for night.

When the founder, Barry Cohen, discovered a new self-powered illumination system he realized that it would work great in a watch. It would allow it to be visible in low or no light situations.

Luminox was founded back in 1989. As luck would have it, the Navy Seals just happen to be in the market for a new, more dependable, watch for night missions for it's teams. While at a trade show Nick North, the officer in charge of procurement for the Navy SEALs, found Luminox and liked them so much that he and Cohen worked together to make the Luminox Navy SEAL watch.

It may have been fate that brought them together but these Luminox watches are like a gift from God. Tough as nails and as dependable as a good dog, these watches will not let you down. If you have the coin, a Luminox is worth its weight in gold.

This black on black on black watch is made by U-Boat. If you do not know about U-Boat watches do not feel pregnant. They are an Italian fine watch company that came on the market in 2004.

So far I have only seen one of these fine pieces of horology in person and hope to have one of my very own one day.

When the U=Boat watch first came out they where in very limited supply. They also came with a high end Japanese, Myota quartz movement. But after they picked up a big contract they reorganized a bit. One of the first things they did was come up with some new watch lines and they filled those new watches with an even better Swiss mechanical movement.

Each U-Boat watch is a part of a limited edition and if you are lucky enough to have one of these beautiful watches I truly envy you.
