It's a fashion statement that's classic AND back in style like never before!

 

Black and white has been a classic fashion statement popularized by Chanel who made it iconic and trendy. You can find the black and white contrasting with the Chanel logo on their handbags, shoes, and apparel.

Do you remember the linoleum of the 50s, those black and white square tiles?  Have you been in any diners lately and noticed that black and white is back?  I personally have worn lots of black AND black and white over the years--have you noticed that it's back in fashion?  And, have you noticed just how much black and white there is in other designer items?

Well, sit back and take a look at some of the cool designer items I've found.  I hope you'll enjoy this lens and all of the fabulous finds.

Black and white is everywhere! 

Where can you see black and white?
  • Art-- Custom portraits drawn in graphite pencil by a professional artist are not only personalized collectibles, but look fantastic in a black and white decor theme. What can be more "designer" than an original piece of art that you commissioned?
  • Clothing -- including dresses, tops, skirts.
  • Jewelry -- from rings to bracelets, earrings, necklaces -- you name it, you can see it!
  • Shoes -- everything from the casual sneakers to flip flops, strappy sandals, and pumps.
  • Handbags -- many cool interesting patterns.
  • Home Decor -- lots of pillows and cushions in interesting black and white and patterns plus black and white floral plus porcelain, dishes, vases.
  • Furniture -- there's such a cool variety of sofas, chairs, ottomans sporting black and white!
  • Wallpaper -- I've seen so many neat wallpaper patterns that are nature-inspired and dramatic with the black and white and white and black motif.

I love this beautiful Giambattista Valli designer dress. The price is not for the "faint at heart" -- it's a bit out of my price range, but I can dream.

This strapless, ruffle and bow, black and white babydoll dress oozes class and style!

I found this at Luisaviaroma for Euro 2275.00.

What I like about this Peter Som dress is that it has just enough of contrasting black to add that extra touch of style to a basic white dress.

Wow! These are sooo cool. Modern and retro!

Designer Ce Ce Chin says that the inspiration for 80%20 came from her observation that we tend to wear our favorite 20% of our wardrobe 80% of the time--and these shoes are definitely part of the 20% we all can't live without.

I found these at Revolve Clothing for a very reasonable $55.00.

Kate Spade Poppy Griffen tote 

I don't mean to tease you, but if you can find one of these--better buy it! The last time I checked the Kate Spade website, it was "temporarily out of stock."

This is one of my favorite tote bags because of the colors, styling, and especially the POPPY flowers.

I found a clear vinyl style of this tote at Zappos and another style at Couture Zappos.

Black and white flower pillow ~ Lena Bergström 

Wow, don't you just love this pillow? I think it harkens back to the 60s with the Flower Power motif.

I found this 50x50 cm sized pillow case with intarsia flower, felted 100% virgin wool at the Designers Eye which is a Swedish website.

The designer is Lena Bergström who has designed this in a variety of other colors. Love it!

What I love about the Black Forest collection by Dibbern is the nature-inspired theme. You can find quite a good selection of this type of porcelain.

I'm seriously in love with this round sofa/chair by Italian designer Antonio Citterio from the Maxalto Collection.

What I love about it is well ... everything! Black and white, round, etc. etc.

I've spotted it at a few sites online and at Matisse.
