darkroom fun
the camera i use for my b&w photos is an asahi pentax k1000. i love it~ it's old and uses film, it's made with metal and it's completely manual. i develop the negatives and create the prints in my darkroom. it's a rewarding experience and it's really fun!

photos of the darkroom
some of the process, in order
light is being shone through the negative in the enlarger on to the paper. the negative is being projected all over the floor, but just the part cropped in the easel will be the final photo ~see the paw (similar crop) on the mirror a few pics down. picture was taken while focusing on the test paper.. because the photo paper is light sensitive, even the lcd screen light would probably affect the outcome of the print.
after exposing the paper, the print is developed in a tray of developer. again, the paper is still sensitive to light (except red light). this print was not a keeper, so i was able to take a picture..
to stop the development of the print, it is placed in a tray of fixer (or sometimes stopbath, then fixer). fixing it makes it insensitive to light!
then the print is rinsed in water to remove all chemicals.
remove excess water with a squeegee and let it dry on a rack and/or in a blotter book.
finished print.
print exposed using a 4 1/2 contrast filter.
an experiment~ a print that was retouched and a texture was added. i made a paper negative and painted out unwanted distractions, then i added tissue paper as a texture!
