  • BestAppEver Aug 18, 2011 @ 11:45 pm | delete
Blackberry protect is the best app! it backs up ALL of your data- contacts, calendar, texts, etc.,, and if you lose your phone if it is on, you can log on online and it will show you the phones location and allow you to wipe it clean if it was stolen. I broke mine and had to have a replacement phone shipped to me and I was able to download the app and click restore and switch device and within a half hour, all my texts, contacts, alerts, etc were all on my new phone. It is a MUST HAVE! And it is free!
  • TIRMassageStone Aug 16, 2011 @ 5:11 pm | delete
The BlackBerry was such an innovation. Most cell phone carriers are just catching up with things like Push Email. I know it's not an app, but I have to say my favorite feature is definitely Push Email.

Hello friends my favorite app is Secure My Apps. It allows you to select apps so your data remains safe and secure. You can share your device without having to worry about someone viewing your apps or accessing your personal photos, apps , text and e-mail. Plus, it protects your data from accidental deletion. Additionally, you can setup unique profiles and have them automatically start at a pre-set time. So you can keep your work and your personal life separate.

I've had a more than one Blackberry over the last 5 years, my favourite todate has been the Bold 9700 which was great, my latest was the Torch which I don't like at all, so I have reverted to my old Curve 8310 as I had given my Bold away (bad decision switching). The one thing I haven't done is explore the apps, this will give me the impetus to do so now, nice lens. What are your thoughts on the devices?

Livestrong.com calorie counter app....costs like $3 and is available through the blackberry app store. I like it because it connects to their website which is the for profit side of the nonprofit LIvestong.org But I also wouldn't want to live without a twitter app (@archgrafix if anyone wants to find me) or without my blackberry podcasts.
  • waylon lane Feb 22, 2011 @ 9:09 pm | delete
do not disturb. it works flawlessly on my bold 9700. this app allows me to pick any phone number I want to block form being able to either ring my blackberry or get into my voicemail. all callers hear on their end is silence - like the phone went dead! this app, for $2.99 is a must for any blackberry user.

Evernote is my favorite app. You can take notes, snapshots, and voice memo on your phone and it automatically syncs with a web site. While I have been thinking about switching phones and providers I am pretty looked in to Blackberry because of all my messenger contacts and my blackberry email address.

I have the Curve 8330 (i know, i know, it's like the dinosaur of blackberries) and I have to be honest, I really don't like it. I mean... it's ok, but web browsing is terrible and its SOOOOOOO SLLLOOOOOWWWWW :)

I essentially pay 30 dollars a month just to get my emails and enjoy some free apps for my social networking fetish. I guess I should look at an upgrade - GREAT LENS!
  • RedRhino06 Nov 15, 2010 @ 1:47 am | delete
well i am a great fan of my iphone but i do have to say if it wasnt for the huge difference in screen size(generally i am saying) the BB is a pretty good device

  • igorGriffiths Nov 11, 2010 @ 6:45 am | delete
Android is definitely where the latest progress is happening, the developer community is not happy with the facilities that RIM are providing at the moment.

My upgrade is due in February will have to start looking at my options

Nice list here. I think BlackBerry's range of apps sometimes gets overshadowed by Android and Apple's ranges. Easy to forget that BlackBerry have some great stuff to offer, too!

I think the best browser for OS 5.x is BOLT. Opera mini is ok, but Bolt is much easier to get around (IMHO).
  • igorGriffiths Nov 11, 2010 @ 6:47 am | delete
I agree I have tried to like opera but it just refused to operate smoothly

Now that you can have Bolt operating as your default browser it is definitely the best that I have tried and multi-tabs are fantastic
  • Margarito Carlos Sep 26, 2010 @ 4:31 pm | delete
Best and Must have Blackberry App would be BerryBuzz, it lets you customize the LED lighting for nearly every notification your Blackberry gives. I have specific colors for each E-mail account, sms, phone calls, as well as a few contacts. It's $5.99 but well worth it. Google Maps is the second must have for me. These two apps are the two I purchase and download first on my Blackberrys. Then of course Twitter, Facebook, etc.

I cant believe no one has mentioned Poynt. I use this app more than any other and LOVE it. I like Pandora Radio better than Slacker, but I havent been on Slacker in some time. They may have made improvements. Like the new UberTwitter, Yelp and Urban Spoon.

BeBuzz Free is a good app for when you are recieving phone calls, it customises the LED light notificator to any colour you want and also has a cool disco feautre that loops through all of them, recommended.

Nice lens - great tips for Blackberry users! But since I have a Blackberry phone (work) and an iTouch (fun) I am using fewer apps on the blackberry and more and more on the iTouch.

One of the Top 3 apps in the Professional and Business category of BlackBerry App World is "Call Time Tracker by momentem", it's a really popular app combined with a service. It allows you to tag and allocate your mobile calls to clients, projects, cost centers, and to flag them as billable. Great for anyone who has to account for their time. And ............. it's ............ completely ............... FREE !!!!!!!!!!!! They have some amazing reviews at www.momentem.net/comments .

    Good Article!
I use Aneesoft Free BlackBerry Video Converter that convert all popular videos to BlackBerry video format.

Great resource! I use Slacker Radio which I love. I wish there was a better voice dialing app for my Storm: the RIM dialer that came with the phone is useless for me. I wish I could find a trainable dialer.

Check out this new app, momentem. You can find it at www.momentem.net. It is a great telecom expense management tool and you can tag your calls and other activity. Not totally free but there is a free trial version that will give you an idea and get you hooked on the application.

Lately I'm loving Slacker Radio (www.slacker.com). Over 100 channels of free streaming radio with a good variety and quality. Plus, you can program your own stations on their web site and your stations will automatically appear on your BB -- pretty cool! Totally free app, download from their web site with your BB browser.
