Blair L. Hornstine graduated high school from Moorestown, New Jersey. Blair received publicity when she filed suit against the Moorestown Township Board of Education and its Superintendent. Superintendent Paul Kadri attempted to change school policy designed to award the status of valedictorian to the pupil with the highest grade point average. Blair was diagnosed with a rare disability called chronic fatigue syndrome. With the assistance of her IEP team at school, she excelled through partial home schooling.
Paul Kadri tried to circumvent the rules and attempted to make the runner-up his choice for valedictorian even though he had a lower grade point average. Paul Kadri's actions were later found to be discriminatory and unlawful.
