Bleeding Hemorrhoids - how to deal with them

Hemorrhoids are a condition that people tend to suffer with quietly...you never hear people bragging about how much their hemorrhoids hurt, do you?!

The thing is, you don't need to suffer in silence. There are many things that can be done to relieve the symptoms and cure the things once and for all.

Relief and treatments

Ways to relieve your symptoms

There are numerous ways to ease the symptoms of your hemorrhoids. They break down into 3 main areas: Things you can do at home, medicinal & herbal and surgical.

Things you can do at home

  • Wipe yourself with clean wet toilet paper. Wetting the paper makes it softer.
  • Apply an icepack (a perfect shaped icepack are those little icypoles you buy kiddies (you might not want to eat it afterwards! Wrap it in some damp tissue paper and away you go).
  • Buy a donut shaped cushion to sit on.
  • Drink lots of water to keep your stools soft

Medicinal & Herbal

There are many different medicinal and herbal hemorrhoid treatments available from all leading pharmacies and also online.

What you choose really depends on you and how you feel...suppositories get to the root of the problem but if you're in a lot of pain you probably won't like the idea of 'sticking something' in there!

Capsules that you take orally are probably a good bet, they get to the root of the problem by traveling through the blood stream and you don't have to touch anywhere painful.

The other option is cream...some people find it difficult and messy to apply whilst others like the cooling feeling it gives them.

Surgical

Different methods are used depending upon the type and severity of your hemorrhoids but include:
  • Hemorrhoidectomy
  • Laser coagulation
  • Infrared photocoagulation
  • Injection sclerotherapy
  • Rubber band ligation
