A Little Act of Kindness Brings a Lots of Happiness

As you may heard, I've became Squid Angel. Invitation to become an Angel came to me as pleasant surprise and I'm very grateful to Squidoo HQ to find my work here, on Squidoo, worthy of such a honor.

But, this lens is less about my role as an angel (although it's about that as well) but more about what angel blessings meant to me and what they mean to you. How such small thing as one person (an angel) coming to your lens and leaving you a little note: 'Angel blessing to your lens!' can affect your future lensmaking.

I've Been Blessed...

... by many Angels on different lenses...

I have to admit, it took me several try -out lenses to finally makes one worth of blessing! It didn't come over night. I had to learn many new things - what takes for lens to be considered good, how to combine different modules - selling and content (don't make it look too pushy!), even had to work on my English! :)

When it finally came, it brought to me enormous joy as affirmation of making a good thing - lens good enough to be blessed! I can still remember the feeling (and still have this same feeling) - thrill about someone - SquidAngel - recognizing my efforts!

If you're new to all of this lenscrafting stuff, I can tell you single, the most important thing: don't give up! Give yourself time - ask, learn, read a lot! You'll get it done right! Practice is crucial for learning how to make great lenses.

I was fortunate to find many really great people on Squidoo. And many of them I consider my friends! How come? What is better description of a friend than: Person who is willing to hop in when you're in trouble!

Blessing? Who cares!

I do care, but I also don't remember my 1st blessing, I do remember being really new and silly and asking for a blessing for Kitty Wompuss in the forum...I got an e-mail or comment from one of the Angels, saying I had already been blessed many times, but just hadn't realized it...I did the happy dance then :)
I also chose to be on this side to keep spirituality company :-)

What an Angel Blessing Really Means?

Well, at least what it meant to me...

Angel blessings are confidence boosters as well as rank boosters! Angel blessing can tell you you're on right path. You're going in right direction! Your lens is GREAT! Finally! You did it right! :)

Blessings are rare. They needs to be deserved with constant learning and improvement. And when you finally get it, it brings you feeling of satisfaction for job well done!

And What's This Little Angel Up To?

In case you're wondering...

As you can check by yourself, I get around pretty much. Until now, I've rated more than 1,700 lenses (visited probably more than 2,500!) and made over 1,700 posts on SquidU. So, I saw pretty much everything! I saw really, really outstanding lenses - those that have such a great story beneath... it brings chills! I've seen crap. Unfortunately, more than I wanted... And I've seen a lots of half-baked lenses - You can't classify them as crap but they ain't great!

What I am doing right now and plan to continue (at least as long as I have my wings!), is to continue to fly around Squidoo looking for great lenses to bless! As you all know, angels have options: give "thumbs up" aka bless, give "thumbs down" aka ding, or simply do nothing.

Well, there is a 4th option. There is an option of leaving comment, rating and / or sending you a suggestion what and how to improve your lens. Or to direct you to SquidU (if you're new and haven't find your way around yet!). New lensmasters will also, probably, receive an invitation to join Fresh Squid group which is created to promote newcomers to Squidoo.

Bless or Ding... Which Way to Go?

I'll try to keep this simple...

Things that can get lens blessed or, in another word, thumbed up:

- Lens that is written using your own words (not copied and pasted) and that allows glimpse in your personality.
- Lens that has a load of pictures matching content (including intro picture).
- Balanced lens - lens that has a good balance in selling and sharing modules.
- Changed profile picture and default bio with 'contact me' button enabled.
- No default titles.
- Interactive lens - poll, duel, twitterstorm module or some other kind of interaction with visitors is a bonus!

Things that can get lens dinged or thumbed down:
- Spammy lenses.
- Lenses that give people wrong ideas and / or are harmful.
