The crane may be the oldest bird on earth, dating back sixty million years. It is associated with a long list of ancient customs and legends.
In many parts of the world, Cranes are regarded as a messenger of the gods. In ancient Egypt, legend says that a two-headed crane was once seen flying over the Nile, to announce a new age of joy and prosperity.
In Asian cultures, the Crane is associated with longevity, health, happiness, wisdom and good luck. Cranes mate for life and are often seen at Japanese weddings.

- Birds in general, bring good luck when placed in the South facing side of your room. However the keeping of caged birds is bad Feng Shui, as this represents confinement and the stunting of growth.

- I remember reading Sadaku and the Thousand Paper Cranes. That was my first introduction to cranes. What magnificent birds they are!

- I watched a documentary called 'Moth Man'.... In the documentary they were saying that many people believed the mysterious creature was a mutated crane... Every time I see a crane I think of this..It's a great documentary, you should check it out sometime.

- I can understand why cranes are associated with blessings and good fortune. They are one of the most fascinating birds on Earth. When you see them walking on the ground it's hard to believe they are so graceful in flight.
