Gish a Blobular Adventure

So, the other day, my friend was showing me the Humble Indie Bundle 2, (If you don't know what that is, it's a group of games where the money raised is sent to charity.) so I decided to buy it. We were all playing the games, when one of us started playing Gish. It was awesome! What it is, is a black blob that can stick to walls and climb them, become heavy, and become slippery. It can be played by 1-4 players simultaneously. There are a few different modes. Sumo, Football Greed, Pitfight, Dragster, and a Secret mode. There is also a Adventure mode too play also.

Adventure

The Adventure mode is a series of levels where you have to get from one side to the other. There are enemies, and yes it is all puzzle. The puzzles aren't hair-ripping hard, but they are a bit challenging. You also have to be "one with the Gish." At first, it is very hard to control him, but after playing for a while, you get used to it.

Sumo

In Sumo mode you and up to 3 more friends battle and try to knock each other off the ring. It is always 2 vs. 2 to my understanding. There are 3 levels for 1 on 1 and 2 for 2 on 2. You can go and get other levels off the internet to play, but the ones there are really fun. We spent a few hours playing those two levels.

Football

In football mode, there are also three 1 on 1 levels and two 2 on 2 levels. The goal of football is to launch the football into the other players net or get a field goal by launching it over. The trick to this one is to stick on to it, then press the heavy button immediately after letting go of sticky and you launch the football in the air. This mode can be extremely hilarious and amusing.

Greed

Greed is the third mode in Gish. It is not my favorite mode though if I played it more often I might grow to enjoy it. The goal of Gish is to get more gold coins than your opponent. It is only two players sadly, but you can mod the game to make it four players.

Pitfight

In pitfight, the goal is to knock your opponent into the spikes on the walls or ground. Instead of knocking him out of the ring, you have a health level and you can squish your opponent or squish him.

Dragster

In Dragster mode, you have to race your opponent to the finish using your three special abilities. The problem with this mode is one, after playing the level once, it is extremely easy, and two, the levels need to be longer. Besides that, it is very fun. I wish though that the makers of Gish would lengthen the levels.

The Negative Points

Even though Gish was a really good game, every game has its faults. One of the main flaws would be the adventure mode and its similarity between levels. You could tell it was an indie game but hey, its only 7 bucks. Also, even though multi-player was a great addition to the game, it could have been better. It really should have had more levels. Lastly, the level editor was really hard to understand unless you do some research. So, if you're thinking, " I'm gonna make the most awesomest level evar!!" Be ready to do some research.

Conclusion

Gish gets a Thumbs Up!Overall this game got a 7/10 due to its Indie Origins. Great party game for all ages. Check it out today!
