When creating a new blog, there are several blog tools that I go ahead and install. There are a variety of tools you can add, from statistic counters to social media that I like to use.Blog Tools
Here are a few basic blog tools you should use for any type of blog, whether its on Wordpress or Blogspot.
Feedburner- Burn your blogs RSS feed with feedburner so you can keep track of your stats as well as add email subscriptions and feed flares to your blog.
Tiny URL- Takes long URLs and makes them shorter.
coComment- Keep track of the comments you leave on different blogs all in one place.
Ping- Use Pingoat or Pingomatic to ping web services when your blog updates.
Favicon Maker- Easily create a favicon for your blog from a photo.

Social Media
Promote your blog on social media. You can submit your blog posts to different social media websites and get traffic.
Blog Engage- A newer social media website where you can share different blog articles.
Blogging Zoom- Blogging Zoom is a place where bloggers can share content that they and other bloggers have written.
Contest Live- Submit and vote for contests around the internet. A perfect place to promote your own contests.
Delicious- Use bookmarks to bookmark your blog.
Digg- Digg is a place for people to discover and share content from anywhere on the web. Very popular, but also very difficult to get a popular article.
Health Ranker- Social media news and voting site dedicated to current health news and health information.
Mixx- Mixx is the place on the web to recommend great information to others and find content recommended as must-see from other Mixx users.
Newsvine- Newsvine is a community-powered news website which draws original content from its users and syndicated content from mainstream sources.
Propeller- Another social media website that is becoming a bit less popular for social media with bloggers.
Sphinn- One of my personal favorite social media websites that focuses on SEO and affiliate marketing.
Stumbleupon- The most popular with bloggers and must have for any blogger for promotion.
Yahoo Buzz- Yahoo's version of social media. If your story gets popular enough, you may make the most covetted website to be featured on, Yahoo.Com.
Wordpress Blog Tools
Wordpress is a popular platform to publish your blog with. A hosted Wordpress blog is very customizable with different themes and plugins.
Wordpress Plugins
OIOPublisher- The best way to monetize your blog. It is an all in one way to sell advertisements on your blog. At $37 it's a good investment.
WPAds- A free alternative to OIOPublisher, it's not as good, but it's free.
All in One SEO Pack- A must have plugin to make your blog more SEO friendly.
Contact Form- The best plugin for a contact form, very easy to customize.
CommentLuv- Add an extra link to your commentors by installing CommentLuv.
Top Comments- Show off the top commentors on your site and reward them with a little link love.
WordPress Related Posts- An easy plugin to install for related posts.
