    Always nice to learn some new tips. I like the idea of guest blogging and invite popular bloggers to guest blog on your site to get more traffic. Does anyone have any creative suggestions on how to make patio furniture fresh and interesting?

    I agree, starting a blog is the easy part. Continuously updating it useful content is what scares most people away from even starting. I'm included in that list. I'm still deciding if I should start one for my micro niche finder. Otherwise your book seems very informative.

    I think I found your blog from Johnpt.. This is a fantastic post and is extremely comprehensive. Thank you.

    Perhaps this is an obvious thought but a lot of blogs, whilst having a particular market, have or contain properties or aspects which we can all apply to a variety of things. That, and the fact that there are so many interesting blogs out there, makes the web a really exciting place right now!

    My blog is called last-minute Academic. http://lastminuteacademic.blogspot.com
    The ideas it advocates can apply in many areas. It is based on the idea that there are a lot of study guides out there, a lot being bought, but not that much improvement on the ground. This blog discusses tried and tested study tips with a dose of reality in relation to student life and how sometimes getting off the ground is the hardest bit.

    I hope it will be useful to people, because as you said, one cannot really (unless one is amazingly hardworking or lucky) make a lot of income from blogs.

    Hey: Great job! I agree with everything you say. Learnt most of what you say the hard way. Still blogging seems like a thankless job! I started several blogs then finally decided to stick with one where I have a lot of original information. It is an industry based blog called http://thermalsprayedcoatings.blogspot.com and I provide tons of valuable information in it but the amount of time I spend on it is disproportionately high also. Anyway, I consider it a social service! Thank you for this excellent write up. Sure enjoyed it.

    Incredibly helpful lense! Five stars and a favorite, too. I've been blogging on sites like Live Journal and such for a while now, but recently I bought my own domain name and started blogging there instead.     Cool Beans. This is a great lens! I was SUCH a geekless blogger that for the first 2 years I had to call my daughter long-distance to "fix" things for me. I'm still trying to figure out some of the inner workers of LiveJournal. Oy! I wish Id seen this lens back when I was still stupid!

    I had one blog which has "what people want" and did no promotion and it get 20,000 visitor. I don't even have exchange links. People sometimes spend too much time talking to other bloggers. Also there is an elitism among bloggers. So don't get upset if they don't add you to their blogroll.

    another good suggestion is to have a squidoo lense on your blog. What better way to create exposure, and maybe it will be a lens of the day.

    Great info on blogs. If you have an online business, then a blog is an absolute must to drive traffic and inform customers of new products.

    It would be great if you included info on WordPress. This software can be an incredible resource to people who aren't familiar with this program
