What is So Great About Blokus?

Blokus has won lots of awards - but is it really as good as all that? Well Blokus has quickly become one of my family's favorite games. The rules of Blokus are simple to learn so you can start playing within a few minutes.

Another great thing about Blokus? It really can be played by all ages - from around age 5 to 105. It is challenging in the sense that it makes you think about tactics if you want to win the game, but not so much that it will frustrate thoses who just don't quite 'get it' yet. So the little ones don't feel left out and the grown ups aren't bored.

Blokus Strategy Board Game

Ages 5 and and up. Blokus is Europe's 2003 game of the year! Develops logic and spacial perception while kids learn to be tactical.

Players take turns placing pieces on their board, each starting from their corner. Each new piece must touch at least one other piece of the same color, but only at the corners! The goal is to get rid of all your pieces. The game ends when all players are blocked from laying down any more of their pieces.

Includes one gameboard with 400 squares, 84 game pieces in four bright translucent colors, and an instruction guide.

How Do You Play Blokus?

The rules are very simple. You place as many as possible of your shaped colored tiles onto the board. When no one else can move the player with the smallest area of tiles left wins. It is as simple as that. But to truly master Blokus you can learn the tactics of what the best moves are - but the beauty of this game is that no one strategy wins every time. You have to learn to adapt to what moves your Blokus opponent makes.

What Makes Blokus So Great?

So why has it won so many awards? Because it is one of those rare games that really can be played and enjoyed by all ages and everyone stands a chance of winning. Enjoy some quality time with the family.
