From Video to Photography
I have quite an extensive background in video, but not so much in still photography. Still, many of the same principles apply such as composition, lighting, etc.
Where video truly differs from still photography is the way you tell a story. With video, you have many frames with which to tell your story. With photography, you have one instance.
That's not to say that video is easy. One thing that I truly enjoy about still photography is the ability to easily edit my photos. With videography, you have to keep your edits streamlined across many frames. With photography, you only have to deal with one frame. Phew.

My Camera
Right now, I have a lower end consumer camera that I use for all my photography. However, it's a versatile camera that allows me to get some great shots.
