Orlando Bloom was picked to portray the elf Legolas in the LORD OF THE RINGS movie trilogy right out of drama school. For the first two or three years of his career, most of his fans didn't realize he wasn't blond-haired and blue-eyed.

He now lives in a house in LA (painting it black to the shock of his celebrity neighbors) and married Australian model Miranda Kerr in July 2010. The couple welcomed a new baby boy named Flynn in January 2011. And from all the pix of Orlando holding and carrying Flynn that have turned up in newpapers and on the internet, it would seem that "Daddy" is Orlando's best role yet.

In the summer of 2007 while his on-screen alter ego Will Turner was playing pirate, Orlando Bloom was starring in a stage production of the play IN CELEBRATION. Set in Yorkshire, the story is about three sons who all live in south England who take a trip home to Yorkshire where they grew up for their parents anniversary. It is a somewhat somber drama, playing on themes of British class and the conflicts in lifestyle between a small mining town and the big city.

Or course, none of the tattoos you see here are real. They were just done for a magazine photo shoot.

His Lord of the Rings Elvish tattoo is just visible on the inside of his right forearm, when it's not being airbrushed out of magazine appearances or movie roles. Orlando also has a tribal sun design just below his navel. You'll have to watch more carefully for that tattoo but it does make occasional appearances in candid pictures.

I saw him in Hollywood while at a friend's birthday celebration. He came to our table and introduced himself to everyone. Drop-dead gorgeous! Very nice fan lens... I'm featuring it on my Squid Angel Diary this week.

Now this is a good fan lens. Then again, it's done by one of the Squidoo gurus.
I'm not a rabid Bloom fangirl, but he's certainly easy on the eyes.
Shameless plug: I've got a lot of Lord of the Rings Lenses, including several Legolas-related lenses, one on Bloom's stunts in the films!
