Founded by lawyer Steve Dallas and originally known as Deathtongue, the heavy metal rock band Billy and the Boingers recorded two songs on a floppy record which was released in 1987. The first is called "I'm A Boinger" (actually recorded by Harry Pitts Band) and the second is called "U Stink But I Luv U" (Mucky Pup).

Bloom County Song Contest Submissions
The ones that didn't win
I always wondered how many entries were submitted for the Bloom County song writing contest and was curious to whatever became of those bands and recordings. Up until now, I had only heard the versions of the two winners (I'm A Boinger and U Stink But I Luv U) which appeared on the flexi-disc.
Now finally, another submitter has come forward to reveal his band's entry and somewhat satisfy my curiosity. I say somewhat because I want to hear more. WE want to hear more! So if you were one of the original entrants in the Bloom County song contest and you still have the recording, you are welcome to add it to this list and to have your time in the rock 'n' roll spotlight. I'm sure a lot of Bloom County readers would be interested in what the experience was like and what memories of that time were like. What was the process like?

- I loved the Bloom County strip, and remember an on-going bit in which Mortimer Mouse was introduced as Mickey's sleazy brother. Disney threatened to sue for copyright infringment because Mortimer so resembled Mickey....the next Sunday, the Bloom county strip features a cartoon Michael Eisner whipping a bunch of Disney characters feverishly drawing cartoons to bring in more money.....I laughed, Disney sued, Mortimer disappeared.
