Pinocchio on Blu-ray
"You won't find a sweeter story or a tidier morality tale about the virtues of being 'brave, truthful, and unselfish." ~~ Entertainment Weekly
Pinocchio is also considered to have one of the best Disney movie soundtracks with songs like "When You Wish Upon a Star," "I've Got No Strings," "Give a Little Whistle" and "An Actor's Life for Me." Add a copy of the Pinnochio soundtrack to this blu-ray disc for an amazing Christmas gift package that will be treasured forever.

Sleeping Beauty Blu-ray
In 1959, the New York Times called Sleeping Beauty "a crisply stylized fairyland where the colors are rich [and] the sounds are luscious." The blu-ray disc restores the original beauty of this movie.
Sleeping Beauty is recommended for children aged 5 and up.
Remember this story? The evil Maleficent tells the king that his daughter Aurora will prick her finger on her 16th birthday, keeping her from her true love. However, a trio of fairies named Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather and a determined Prince Phillip save the day.
The artists were influenced by 15th century manuscripts (illustrated ones) and created a visual picture for this movie that remains unmatched and it took four and a half years and a million drawings to complete this film in 1959. Sleeping Beauty was originally issued in 70mm film and the blu-ray edition gives it back its original beauty. Extras include commentaries, a making of the movie documentary, the recreation of Sleeping Beauty's castle in Disneyland, the television show called 'Four Artists Paint One Tree,' Maleficent's Challenge Game and BD live.
"I give Sleeping Beauty five stars because of the art, because young kids -- especially girls -- will love it, because parents will also be entertained, and because its wholesome message that love conquers hate has rarely been presented better. A product of its time, the film is not perfect but still tough to beat. If you have kids and are building a collection for them, this should be on your list. ~~ Julie Neal
Three hundred and four 5-star reviews by Amazon customers and comments like this one, make it a sure bet for your blu-ray collection.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Blu-ray
Snow White is recommended for children aged 5 and up.
Featuring a sweet girl named Snow White and a not-so-sweet stepmother, this movie tells the story of a young girl who meets and falls in love with a prince. However, her whose evil and jealous stepmother is determined that she will not marry him and has Snow White removed to the forest to be killed. There she is spared death and instead winds up meeting and living with the seven dwarfs. When the Queen discovers that Snow White is alive she sends a poisoned apple which Snow White bites and collapses. Only a kiss from a prince can bring her back to life...
"In addition to its historical value as the first animated feature, it is still a delight, with memorable songs and characters. It is hard to remember that before Disney the dwarfs in the Snow White story had no names and no individual characters. Sneezy, Sleepy, Grumpy, Dopey, Doc, Happy, and Bashful are all vivid characters, and their dance number with Snow White is a highlight." ~~ Movie Mom
Disney pulls out some familiar faces to make the experience (of this package) as warm as possible: Disney himself appears in various footage; Angela Lansbury narrates the documentary and provides a "tour" of the disks; Michael Eisner shows up; and Barbra Streisand sings a specially recorded version of "Some Day My Prince Will Come." ~ Matt Howe
Another of Disney's masterpieces, this movie from 1937 has been extremely well restored. Watch how gracefully Snow White moves and think about how the artists made it happen.

Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure Blu-ray
TinkerBell and the Lost Treasure is recommended for children aged 3 and up.
After the huge and I might add unexpected success of the first Tinker Bell Blu-ray movie I must say I am not surprised at the arrival of Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure on blu-ray. I must also admit that it was a close call whether Wall-E
or Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure should claim the fifth spot on this list. However, since Wall-E made last year's list on The Best Disney Blu-ray Movies Are Magic For You and Your I've chosen to let Tinker Bell win this spot. (By the way, you can read more about the first Tinker Bell blu-ray movie on that same page, too, by clicking right here.)
In Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure, Tink and her friends are getting ready for fall when Queen Clarion and the Minister of Autumn summon Tink. Instead of being in trouble for a change, Tinker Bell discovers that she is being offered a very important job ~~ that of creating a scepter that will shine blue harvest moon through a moonstone and help build up the supply of pixie dust. Of course, nothing ever goes smoothly and in this adventure, eventually Tink learns that she is responsible for her own actions and the value of friendship. Amazon says that, "Like the first Tinkerbell, the colors and clarity of animation are simply breathtaking in this production."
"My young daughter was completely mesmerized by the story (at one point I actually snapped my fingers to get her to blink), and it was even fairly (ahem!) engrossing from my perspective as well. In a world that seems determined to make children grow up as quickly as possible, you have to give Disney credit for putting together some products that simply let them be kids. If you stop me on the street now I'll still deny ever owning these movies, but at home I'll be holding my daughter as she giggles her way back to Pixie Hollow for the umpteenth time." ~ Yossarian

The Movie Mom, Nell Minnow
An excellent guide to family friendly movies.
We used an earlier edition of this book extensively when our boys were growing up and, as a matter of fact, I still use it when I want to look up information about an older movie. I frequently quote The Movie Mom on my movie pages and am thrilled to be able to recommend her book to you now. Because this version was printed in 2004, it will not cover all the latest family friendly movies but if you are looking for a resource book for countless wonderful older movies you are interested in watching with your young children, I don't think you will find a better aid.
