Blue is the fifth color of the rainbow is shared with the amazing blue fairies. Blue is known to be a cool color, however you can actually get both warm and cold blues if they have added colors. Blue fairies, like green fairies are natures own color. With the sky being blue (sometimes! Or at least when it isn't cloudy) and the sea which covers 70% for our planet often being blue reflecting the sky, blue makes up for a large chunk of nature.

Blue like all colors symbolizes many meanings and these can be used in fairy art. Blue is the color of the heavens. It is also the color of coolness and intellect and learning. It also symbolizes peace, solitude and tranquility as it is relaxing.

You can use this to portray your fairies, or choose to contrast it.

Blue fairies come in many types. Some are just blue because the artist wanted a blue fairy, others represent blue in all its meanings.

Blue Fairies Are Frost Fairies

As blue is a cool color (mostly) it is often used in ice and frost fairy pictures. These are either in blue or white tinged with blue shadow and shading.

Blue Fairies are Flower fairies

There are a lot of blue flowers that make for great fairy subjects for artwork. There are Bluebells (which admittedly always look purple to me!). Forget me knots, delicate and gentle like blue fairies, love in the mist blue thistles flowers to name but a few. So blue fairies make for great flower fairies too!

Blue Fairies are Water Fairies

Water is a popular blue theme for fairies and many blue fairies are in fact water fairies. However water fairies are also elemental fairies and they share that group.
