25 Blue Things About Me

Blue is my favorite color. I love blue!

When I was growing up I always seemed to be wearing red things. As my birthday is a few days before Christmas I always wore red. I wore a red dress for my birthday and a red dress for Christmas. Red, red, red, it was always red. I must have created a fuss one year so my mom finally made me a blue dress for Christmas.

I also remember another time when we went to the store to pick out my new bicycle. My first little tricycle was red so I knew I wanted my new big bicycle to be a different color. Wouldn't you know it, I was drawn to this blue bicycle right away. I was lucky It just happened to be a girl's bike, too. Although red was considered more of a girls color in the 60s, I think it was a natural choice for me to want to be pick the blue.

Over the years, I have favored many different colored things, as I like most colors, not just blue. I have now grown to love red as well as purple. At times my life seems to have revolved mostly around the color blue so I thought it would be fun to try and come up with a list of "25 Blue Things About Me". Phew. I did it!

I am very thankful to have celebrated many milestones in my life including those of my family. I also have survived my wild teenage years, a scary plane ride over the Atlantic when two of the four engines blew, many moves, many career changes, many travels, including a backpacking adventure with my husband in the South Pacific and two road trips to Disneyland with our two children.

To top it off, I have survived two major operations, a business success and a business failure; and, of course, the usual stuff, including the ups and downs of marriage and raising two children. Looking back, I will always be grateful for the support my family and especially my parents have given me during good times and bad and celebrating many milestones with me.

The number 25 is an important number to me, but not because of any particular milestone. This number is a reminder of a terrible year (in my life) following my 25th birthday. I am fortunate that only one particularly blue thing has happened to me (in my life) and not 25 blue things. During this blue time, my life turned upside down and I don't know what would have happened if I hadn't recovered. It is not a painful subject to talk about but the details don't really matter anymore.

Today, I view this blue time in my life as a celebration. We all seem to go through painful and stressful situations in our life but I think this particular blue time helped me deal with many other very difficult situations. Last year we celebrated my son's 25th birthday and 25 years of living in the same house. It's hard to know where time flies, but I will always remember last year as a celebration; a celebration of the number 25, an important number to me.

Different things including the colors of things seem to comfort my soul. I am often drawn to blue when I have to make a color choice. The sight of something blue makes me feel warm and fuzzy. The color blue always helps me make a wise choice. I find great "comfort" in choosing something blue; especially blue clothing for my closet!

I find most types of music comforting and relaxing, too but I prefer listening to mostly pop and soft rock. Wouldn't you know it; I'm not particularly fond of blues or country music. I guess everything can't be blue! I find blues and country music...too mellow for me. I prefer something more fun, something more alive, and something with a beat. It has to be music that is fun!

I often find comfort in thinking of bright blue, sunny locations. I sometimes suggest (hint, hint) blue waters and warm sandy beaches for a day trip or a lengthy vacation. When I'm thinking of watching a movie, I wish it could be a bright blue, sunny location but quite often I end up watching a movie that is too serious or too funny. Of course!

Blue waters and sandy beaches are always on my wish list, my thought list, my comfort list. The rainy season here is just too long sometimes. Well, it's fun to dream. Maybe I just need a vacation or maybe I just need some more blue things!
