Some Facts About Blue Topaz, Turquoise and Tanzanite
Blue Topaz is a symbol of love and fidelity. In ancient times, Blue Topaz was traditionally believed to have cooling powers. These gems were said to cool everything from hot tempers to boiling water. Blue Topaz was associated with healing powers, too, and believed to be able to cure asthma, insomnia, and even insanity. This gem was credited with magical powers such as rendering the wearer invisible in a dangerous situation.
Turquoise symbolizes friendship and luck. The name Turquoise originated because the stone was introduced into Europe via Turkey. It's one of the first gems ever used in jewelry. Ancient people considered turquoise sacred, ane believed it protected them against all sorts of evils. Turqoise was also popular among the American Indians of the Southwest. Traditionally, the stone was worn as protection against unnatural death. If the turquoise changed color, the wearer was considered to be in grave danger. It was also said to safeguard horses and riders from falls, and to grant protection against the powers of darkness. Today Turquoise is the protective stone of pilots, flyers, and crews.
Tanzanite, as a relatively newly discovered gemstone, has no traditional beliefs associated with it--but it's easy to believe that Tanzanite is a very beautiful gemstone!

Turquoise is a perennial favorite, very popular right now, and also affordable.
Tanzanite is rare and more expensive than the other December birthstones. You may find tanzanite at a bargain price, but beware--low priced tanzanites will look washed-out and appear lavender or even gray, not the deep blue-violet seen only in quality tanzanite.
Due to the high cost, some tanzanite jewelry here uses created stones, but these are clearly labeled.
