Blue Fridays or Red Fridays?

Ranked #227 in Nonprofits, #63,992 overall

Welcome fellow Americans

I first learned about the concept of "Blue Fridays" through an email someone sent me several years ago. I thought it was a great idea so I created this webpage for others out there wishing to learn more about Blue Fridays and find other ways to support our troops abroad. Then, people started emailing me saying it should be Red Friday and that Blue Fridays were for democrats, blah, blah, blah. I'm not here to argue these trivial matters because thats missing the point entirely. The fact is, the term "Blue Friday" or "Red Friday", for whatever reason brought you to this page as it has many more before you. Now, if you really want to support our troops, find a charity from the list below or one you are already familiar with, and make a donation. That will go much further than wearing a certain color on a certain day of the week. Thanks for your visit and thank you to the soldiers who give me the very freedom to type these words. God blesses the USA.

Have you read it yet?

Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing blue every Friday. The reason? Americans who support our troops used to be called the 'silent majority' We are no longer silent, and are voicing our love for God, country and home in record breaking numbers. We are not organized, boisterous or overbearing.

Many Americans, like you, me and all our friends, simply want to recognize that the vast majority of America supports our troops. Our idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity and respect starts this Friday -- and continues each and every Friday until the troops all come home, sending a deafening message that ... every red-blooded American who supports our men and women afar, will wear something blue.

By word of mouth, press, TV -- let's make the United States on every Friday a sea of blue much like a homecoming football game in the bleachers. If every one of us who loves this country will share this with acquaintances, coworkers, friends, and family, it will not be long before the USA is covered in BLUE and it will let our troops know the once 'silent' majority is on their side more than ever, certainly more than the media lets on.

The first thing a soldier says when asked 'What can we do to make things better for you?' is ...'We need your support and your prayers.' Let's get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by example, and wear something BLUE every Friday.

Yes, my daughter is in the Army, serving in Afghanistan. My grandson, a Marine, leaves Monday for Afghanistan. My granddaughter is a Lieutenant in the Navy. I am a veteran of the Women's Army Corps, and I have another daughter who is also an Army veteran. I just sent my daughter a "care" package last week. It's important to stay in touch as much as possible with your service member, to help keep up their morale. In WWII, letters took weeks and sometimes months to arrive to their intended recipient, and sometimes they never arrived. We are fortunate in that we have a much quicker communication method today. I would urge those who know how to use the computer to teach their family members...or failing that, write the letters for them as they sit with you. I am in touch with my daughter almost daily, which is a great reassurance to both of us. Thanks, and I didn't mean to "run on." Keep reminding people with your wonderful lens.
