- The Blue Jay is one of my favorite birds. Last summer I had the privilege of having one land on a railing about 8 feet from me. It sat there looking at me for about 5 minutes and as if to say, "who are you and what are you doing here?" After it flue away into a near by tree it sang me the most beautiful song I had ever heard a bird sing. That was a special moment and I can only hope that I will always remember that moment and time.
Fantastic lens Lizzy, as always!

- Blue Jays, being a member of the Crow family, were also hit by West Nile disease, but have made a strong come back in Louisiana. Welcome to the Naturally Native Squids group. Don't forget to add your lens links to the appropriate plexos and vote for them.

- Ah, yes we know when blue jays are around our backyard. In fact, if I hear a persistent call of the blue jay, I will get up from my office desk and walk out to the patio to see what is up. These birds tend to dominant the bird feeder if they are around -- usually get territorial against the cardinals.

- Blue Jays are so pretty, we used to get 3 or 4 coming into our yard in Indiana. See a few in South Florida, but not often.
They did use to be aggresive at the bird feeders, but the funniest were the squirrels or chipmunks, it was near impossible to stop them from raiding.
5 ***** for a very nice lens.
