YTB Versus Other Travel Companies

It's Not As Cut And Dry As You Think!

We are back! I'll be posting more wedding pictures soon!

Since I've been gone for the past couple of months, I got a disturbingly large amount of phone calls and e-mails from another travel company's reps trying to recruit me into their business. Starting about a year ago, I had one rep try on more than one occasion to get me to leave by comparing YTB to their travel company (let's call it "TC"), mainly the start-up fee.

I think the deluge of TC folks bombarding me with their pitches began in large part to YTB's 2007 Income Disclosure statement.

The constant flood of sales pitches over the past few months gives me no choice but to "clarify" a few things for those who may fall prey to the "TC" is better that YTB trap.

First, I want to begin by making a blanket statement for all of the other Travel Company reps out there- don't waste your time calling or e-mailing me. I am not interested in joining your company- YTB is the only travel company for me.

Now, onto the real stuff of the YTB versus TC debate...

The YTB Income Disclosure Statement
Here's what one TC Rep said:

According to the 2007 Income Disclosure Statement at YTB, only 4% will ever get to their power team. In addition, less than 1/3 of 1% will ever make it into coach's corner. There is over 246,000 reps of which 95% an average of $90.32 in yearly income

Okay, now the first OBVIOUS question to pose to the suave TC salesperson is this: "Could you please send me a copy of TC's 2007 Income Disclosure Statement". If the answer is anything but, "sure here you go" then you need to take everything they say after that point with a grain of salt.

The truth of the matter is that YTB's statistics are fairly representative of network marketing companies in general...95% make little to no money at all. I seriously doubt that TC's statistics are any better.

Let me give you a real world example- I have at least 23 Reps whom I contacted after they joined as a Rep who said that they were "just looking". 23- in just MY organization, who are nothing but "tire kickers". Multiply that by the Tens of Thousands of active Reps (i.e, non-tire kickers) and you start to see why it is that such a large percentage never make any money...THEY DON'T WORK THE BUSINESS AT ALL!

Now, if you think that people who just sign up to "look around" because it's free should be compensated by YTB, then you need to head on over to Cuba and hang with the Communist crowd! In this capitalist society, you get paid for the value you bring to the marketplace- you don't work, you don't get paid. Ask your friendly TC rep if they are just handing out checks to those who don't work the business at all, I'll bet my life they will say no.

Therefore, common sense dictates that taking the amount of commissions paid by YTB in 2007 and dividing it by the number of Reps is completely ridiculous. In reality, you have just about the same percentage of success in most any legitimate company. Your success depends in large part on YOU.

Marketing Techniques
One of the things that really struck me about one particular company, is that it has become very apparent how they are marketing the business... encouraging their reps to contact current YTB reps and try to get them to leave YTB for their company. Hmmm... Questionable tactic at best. I have never once contacted someone who did not contact me first for more information, and I never once enouraged someone to leave their company to come to YTB...but that's just me.

The Price To Join
Another favorite of TC Reps is to show how much "cheaper" TC is to join. Now, if we are comparing prices on something- anything, doesn't it make sense to make sure that you are comparing apples to apples?

For example, if you are looking to buy a car- do you just look at the price? Geez, I hope not! You look at features...what car gives you the most bang for your buck? what car has the features you want?

Now, let's look at YTB. For $449.00 you get an on-line travel booking engine, the ability to book travel directly with vendors, a YTB Flowers site, a YTB Cars site, a YTB Outdoors site, a YTB golf site, and a marketing site, complete with a back office for both travel and marketing. (assuming you sign up as a Rep and an RTA). Then your monthly web-hosting fee for your travel booking engine is $49.95 per month (which is refunded if you sell 6 travel stores). As an RTA you receive 60% of the commission earned by YTB on the sale of travel.

Now, from what I understand about TC:

When you join at their "low, low rate" (which varies from $49 to $99 depending on what day of the week it is and a $49.95 monthly fee) you don't get any credentials, don't have the ability to work with travel vendors directly, and you only get a 20% commission on travel booked through you. Okay, so with the base package you pay the same monthly fee, but your products are limited (because you can't book directly through vendors) AND you get 40% LESS of the commission on all travel booked through you! If you plan to book a lot of travel on your site, the joke's on you, because while you saved $300 on the initial fee, how much commission will you lose over the next few years because you only get a 20% commission?!?

Now, if you want a sharp looking website- you'll add another $9.95 for that. Do you want to market the TC opportunity? Well, it's gonna cost you-another $19.95 a month. So, now you are paying almost $80 per month for a fraction of what YTB offers (remember, YTB has numerous product websites- YTB Flowers, YTB Cars, YTB Golf, Honeymoon Wishes, YTB Romance etc. which all come with your $449 start-up fee).

It doesn't take an accountant to figure out that after just a year, TC is actually MORE expensive than YTB for less features.

I could go through an even more thorough analysis of the differences between YTB and other travel companies(YTB is #26 on Travel Weekly's 2008 Power List (up from #36 last year), YTB is a member of the Direct Selling Association, etc, etc.) but I will leave the due diligence up to you!

Best of Luck!

YTB International: Wall Street's Next Online Travel Darling?

By John Gilliam

Priceline (Nasdaq: PCLN) is the online travel industry's best company, as judged by the valuation currently accorded its publicly traded shares. Though Expedia (Nasdaq: EXPE) has a higher total market capitalization, Priceline shares trade at a multiple of trailing twelve months earnings that is nearly 50% higher than the same earnings multiple of Expedia. (PCLN ttm p/e = 36, EXPE ttm p/e = 23).

Thus, it would not be a stretch to say that PCLN is the darling of Wall Street when it comes to the online travel space and it is easy to see why. PCLN management has steered this company from bleeding red ink and the necessity of a reverse split five years ago to its place today as an international powerhouse in online travel. Shareholders who bought into PCLN when it first started making the turn towards profitability (about 5 years ago this month) have enjoyed 5 year gains of as much as 2000% (for those who purchased near the $6 lows in 2003).

Investors seeking gains of that kind in the online travel space will likely be disappointed if they invest in one of the big publicly traded players, including PCLN. Though PCLN management appears to be executing magnificently, the company's stock price ($128 as of this writing) already reflects this near flawless execution. Its hard to imagine that investor's could see the stock double over the next year or so, much less increase by a factor of three or four times. It is this realization that made us do a little digging to see if there are any companies out there that have PCLN type potential, but have yet to be recognized by the investment community as such. This brings us to the stock we believe investors should consider - a company called YTB International (YTBLA.PK) (hereinafter "YTB").

YTB International is a rapidly growing company in the online travel space. While both PCLN and YTBLA operate in the online travel space, their core business models are so different that it makes most comparisons of their respective businesses less than meaningful - it would be like comparing apples with oranges. However, we see much commonality between the two companies from an investment standpoint - with PCLN as a model of the kind of stock price appreciation that could be achieved by a company in this space under the right circumstances. Simply put, we see potential for investors in YTB stock to earn the kind of return long term PCLN investors have enjoyed.

YTBLA is currently traded on the pink sheets and we have never recommended a stock that trades on the Pink Sheets before. However, YTBLA is current on all listing requirements, expects to be listed on the OTCBB within the next few weeks and we fully expect that the company will be listed on a national exchange before the end of this year. We have also never recommended a company with a multi level marketing model, though We have reviewed many of them over the years and can appreciate the wealth and value created by billion dollar companies like Avon (NYSE: AVN), Tupperware (NYSE: TUP), Herbalife (NYSE: HLF) and PrePaid Legal Services (NYSE: PPD). Despite these two factors, we are still recommending YTBLA because we believe they are poised to be a significant player in the online travel space and we further believe that investors in the stock at today's prices could see Priceline type gains over the next few years and possibly sooner.

As mentioned previously, YTBLA's business model is very different from PCLN and EXPE, each of whom operates a website that is designed to be a portal through which consumers book travel online. PCLN and EXPE spend millions of dollars in advertising each quarter to attract consumers to their websites in hopes that they will book travel thereby earning the company commissions or merchant revenues. YTB spends very little on advertising, relying instead on a network of "referral travel agents" (hereinafter "RTAs") to book travel through their own private labeled YTB website. These referral travel agents pay YTB a start up fee (around $499), then a monthly fee ($49) to host their online booking engines. The referral travel agents then earn a commission on each booking, a small percentage of which is retained by YTB. Thus, YTB earns revenue each time a new RTA signs up, then earns monthly hosting fees and commissions from each RTA.

Thus, even though both companies operate in the online travel space, the business models and revenue generation engines are quite different. The more important recognition here, we believe, is that from an investor's standpoint, YTB is a company that is in a very similar position to where PCLN found themselves five years ago. At that time, PCLN had a flagging stock price and many questions surrounding its business model, despite the fact that it was making obvious strides in its quest to turn the corner to profitability.

This is similar to the storyline we are see today for YTB, where the company has dealt with several bumps in the road, most of which were related to either its ability to manage very high volume growth in a very short time or attempts by competitors to try and slow the company's march forward.

It appears that these bumps in the road have been unable to stop or even slow YTB's momentum. The company's most recent annual report shows staggering gains in bookings, commissions earned, revenue and steady gains in the number of RTA's who have signed up to participate. The company grew gross travel bookings more than 187% in 2007 over 2006 and saw the base of active RTA's more than double. The company reported its third profitable quarter in a row, its first full year profit and it appears to have reached a point in its growth cycle where it has achieved the critical mass necessary to grow revenues significantly without a commensurate increase in expenses. We saw evidence in the recent 10K filing that indicated general and administrative expenses as a percentage of total revenue fell to only 26.1% in 2007 from 36.5% of revenue in 2006.

Another way we expect the company to grow margins is by earning higher percentage commissions. A very good indicator of this trend was reported in the recent 10K filing. The company reported an 84% gain in gross total bookings, which led to a 178% gain in gross total commissions received. As the company establishes itself as a high volume source of bookings for travel suppliers, the suppliers are willing to pay higher commissions and overrides. This accrues to the benefit of YTB as well as its RTA's.

We see an opportunity for the company to further expand margins by building or buying its own wholesale business. By becoming the "merchant of record" for travel transactions, particularly lodging, YTB can expand on the traditional 10% commissions to instead earn effective rates in the 20 - 35% range. We note that it was a similar move into wholesale lodging reservations by Priceline in 2003 that allowed them to make the jump to profitability and that their acquisition of one of Europe's largest lodging wholesalers that has been the catalyst for Priceline's dramatic growth the last three years.

We believe further expansion of the company's margins are possible as the company leverages the value of its network of 130,000+ active websites. The company's cost to roll out additional product offerings through their RTA website channel is next to zero as is their risk. As such, we expect to see several new products offered through the RTA network in 2008, each of which could have a material impact on YTB's financials.

In summary, we believe that YTB's status as a pink sheets listed company that lacks Wall Street coverage or even main street attention has allowed the recent surge in its business to go unnoticed. The earnings acceleration and margin expansion simply have not been reflected in the stock price - as the stock has fallen more than 70% since the 2007 Q2 report of their first profitable quarter. With the stock currently hovering around the $1.65 per share range - we feel that the stock has the potential for exponential returns as investors become more aware of the YTB story and the company continues its domestic and international expansion. We believe the company is on the verge of a margin breakout that could propel the company to several periods of high double digit year over year earnings growth and that investors will ultimately accord YTB the kind of earnings multiple usually associated with such growth. As such, investors at today's prices could be buying into the proverbial "ten bagger" or even better, enjoy returns like 2003 investors in the PCLN story, who earned 20x their money in less than five years. If YTB can sustain growth at the half the rate it grew in 2007, YTB investors at today's prices could do even better than that.

Is YTB a Scam?

Interesting question isn't it? In this day and age when you can find hundreds upon hundreds of websites and blogs and message boards that have all kinds of things on them you wonder whether or not what you are reading is really true. Hard to know isn't it? Actually, no it isn't!

If you do your homework and research what you want to know thoroughly, then you will have enough information to make up your own mind as to what is and isn't so! It will take you some time to find out what you need to know, but if you want answers badly enough, you will be willing to put the time in to find out what you need. That's why I recommend you thoroughly research the YTB opportunity for yourself.

Research is most definitely called for if you happen to be looking into YTB home based business opportunity. No doubt you will have lots of questions about the business. Is it for you? How much time will you need to commit? How do you get set up? Do you have to invest a lot of money upfront? Is it a scam? Tough questions, but they need to be answered before you can actually start your new business.

So where do you start to find out the information you need? Check the opportunity and the business out on the Internet. Wait! Checking the business out on the Internet IS a good idea but be wary of what you read without checking if the source is a legitimate one.

Why should you check the information you find on the Internet? Simply because some of those sites and especially some message boards, will have deliberate mis-information on them. People are entitled to their own opinions, but what you are looking for is facts and actual experience. Reading a post on a site or a message board from someone who is possibly a recruiter for another home based business won't help you. They'd rather you joined THEM instead. Beware the information they give you on your choice of home-based business opportunities.

You may also run across posts from people who don't care for MLMs and don't think network marketing works and that the whole thing is just a scam. Ask yourself a question or two when you read material like this. Does the person writing the post have any actual experience with the MLM in question, or with network marketing? Did they do the same kind of research YOU are going to do? Did they take the time to actually find answers to their questions or just assume?

Research, research, research! It can't be emphasized enough. When you have the opportunity to invest in a home-based business, take the time to find out what the REAL deal is. It's YOUR success riding on the answers. The YTB opportunity will speak for
itself!

If you really want to start your own online travel business visit the Web sites below and get the information you need to make an informed choice. The sooner you get the facts the sooner you can get on the road to financial success through online business.

The Possibilities are Endless With YTB

Based on some e-mails I've gotten recently, it appears that sometimes people get confused about what YTB's product (or shall I say products) are.

YTB offers 2 separate and unique opportunities. That of a Referring Travel Agent (RTA) and that of a Independent Marketing Representative (REP). To become a Rep, there is no charge. To become an RTA, there is a $449.00 start up fee, in addition to the $49.95 monthly web-hosting fee.

As an RTA, you sell TRAVEL. You get paid 60% of the commission YTB receives to sell the numerous products YTB offers. As an RTA you get your own private-label booking engine, like this one.

As a REP, you sell Travel Websites. Here's where people get confused%u2026. The Travel Website is in fact a product, and a great one at that!

Many people have asked me what can you do with a travel website, and if it is, in fact a real product. If you are in the U.S. the possibilities are endless: (Canadians have more restrictions) Here are some things I've seen on my team:

-You can specialize in a particular niche (cruises, reunions, groups, a certain country or Island).

- If you are in the wedding industry, you can help provide travel for the bride and groom, in addition to encouraging them to sign up for the honeymoon registry.

- If non-profits are more your style, the Passport to Giving program allows you to assist Non-Profits get their own private-label travel website, to assist them in their fundraising efforts.

- If you are a frequent traveler, you can make commissions on your own travel- saving you lots of money over the course of a year.

- If you like to travel, YTB's special promotions for RTA's can get you a great vacation at a low price if your travel dates are flexible.

- If you have always wanted to be a Travel Agent, you can take advantage of all of the training YTB and its vendors offer, and become the go-to travel contact for all of your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, etc.

Of the myriad of home based business opportunities out there, the main reasons were:

1. No inventory.

2. I didn't have to host "parties".

3. I didn't have to guilt my friends and family to purchase over-priced products. (The prices on my travel site are typically the same or lower than other competing big-name travel sites).

4. I didn't have to learn to pronounce complex scientific terms or the names of Tahitian fruits.

5. I could talk about travel, but the though of talking about magic diet pills or jungle juices or the latest facial cream made me want to head for the hills!

Plus, I have learned how to grow my business using the power of the Internet, instead of chasing down my family and friends!

Thanks YTB!

Something pretty exciting happened yesterday that I wanted to share with you. Yesterday, I picked up my new Lexus SUV. Why am I sharing this with you?

Well, my business is what allowed me to make this purchase! That's right. My business is paying for this awesome car, and I am not even one of those YTB top-money earners (yet). In fact, I can tell you without hesitation that I never thought back in October 2006, when I began my first experience with network marketing as a YTB Rep, that just 14 short months later I would be writing about the new luxury car I purchased thanks to my home-based business.

I didn't think it would happen this fast for several reasons. One being that this was my first encounter with network marketing or home-based businesses, so I didn't have a Rolodex of contacts. Then there was the fact that I was (and still am) working full-time as an attorney, so I was building my business only part time. Another reason was that when I contacted my warm market, I got one rejection after another.after.. another...after another (likely due to the fact that I hate "selling"). Of course the countless hours spent creating flyers, and passing them out on every car in a strip-mall parking lot (in frigid temperatures) and dead-end leads that came from those efforts also led me to the conclusion that my dreams of luxury were at least several years away. I remember reading and hearing all of the testimonials about the top money earners, but I never really thought that I would be enjoing my additional income so soon!

How did I do it? Did I get lucky on a few leads who turned in to super-recruiters? No. I learned how to build my business in a smart way. I learned about how to use the power of the Internet to build my organization. But far more importantly, I didn't quit. So many people fail in this business because they quit too soon- usually right before the first taste of success crosses their lips.

My advice to my fellow YTB Reps, is to stick with this business. Don't quit. The only way to ensure your failure, is to quit. Re-dedicate yourself to your travel business. Take a vendor's training course. Go to a CRTA training session. Read some personal development materials like "Think and Grow Rich" or other similar books. Head over to this incredible forum and read about how others are growing their home-based businesses. If you want to learn about how to use the Internet like I have- sign up for this free video training course, and when you watch it...take notes! Talk with your upline, see if they have any suggestions on what you can be doing to move your business forward, and do it!

My advice to those trying to determine if YTB Travel is legitimate...cast your doubts aside and jump on in! Just make sure your sponsor builds the business the way you want to (either face-to-face or on the Internet). Most importantly, don't let what others think affect your decision to throw yourself into the business and once you do, to give it 110%. If I listened to my family and friends, I would have missed out on some awesome vacations over the past year, and of course, my nice new ride! I must confess, the more they see my success and want it, the harder I work to succeed even more. Let those nay-sayers serve as a driving force propelling you to reach your goals.

Does This Business REALLY Work?

Tomorrow morning I'm picking up my new car, that my home-business is paying for! A Lexus RX300!

I attribute my success to one thing: Attraction Marketing.

As a reference point- this time last year, I didn't even know the first thing about Attraction Marketing! In fact, I had just been rejected by all of my warm market, and I was outside freezing my tail off putting flyers on cars in every strip mall parking lot I could find...and I didn't have a single member on my YTB team!

Fast forward 12 months: I now have people contacting me regularly ready to join my business- credit card in hand! I have a wonderful team spanning from one coast to the other, I've enjoyed some great vacations, met some wonderful people, learned a WHOLE lot, and to top it off...I'm purchasing an awesome car paid for by my business!

Why Is It So Hard to Make Money In MLMs?

"Why is it so darn HARD to make money in an MLM?"

If I had a nickel for every time I heard this, I'd be on a vacation in Tahiti right now....

It actually isn't HARD. Climbing Mount Everest is HARD. Stacking greased b-b's is HARD. Swimming the English Channel is HARD. Making money in a network marketing company isn't hard. It actually is pretty easy.

Here's how you do it:

1. PICK A COMPANY AND STICK WITH IT! There are far more legitimate companies out there than fly-by-night scams. So, picking a company isn't difficult. Want to be introduced to tons in a matter of seconds? Go on Yahoo! Answers and ask people what MLM they would recommend. Your inbox will be flooded shortly.

Look for a company that sells a product that interests you. Are you a health nut? Look for vitamin or fruit juice companies- there are plenty! Have you been obsessed with makeup since you were a little girl? Guess what? There are tons of companies that sell makeup that would be thrilled to have you as a distributor. Love to travel? You guessed it- lots of companies to choose from!

Once you've found a company with a product you like, SIT STILL FOR GOODNESS SAKES!

One of the main reasons people don't make money is that they are always looking for something better. Just quit looking around, quit typing in "XYZ Scam" into Google trying to find some reason why you should quit. Quit being enticed by ads that say if you switch to ABC company, "we'll build the business for you". Stop trying to see if the grass is greener on the other side...it isn't.

2. EDUCATE YOURSELF. Unless you are a master- business person, you've got to LEARN about how to build a successful business. Talk to your sponsor or upline. Do what they do. Unless of course, you don't want to build the business the way they do. If that's the case, educational materials abound%u2026want a cheap, great one? Check this out. You need to get a mentor or two or three and STUDY THOSE PEOPLE. If you want to be successful, study those who are successful, then do what they do!

3. BE CONSISTENT. If you can't dedicate at least a couple of hours a day- it is going to take quite some time to build your business. I don't care what anyone tells you, an hour once a week won't cut it. I work my business part-time, but even still, I spend at least 3-4 hours PER DAY on my business. Working the business one day a week, or every other week won't bring in the dough. If you are choosing Oprah or American Idol over your business- then making money in a network marketing company is HARD. If you opt to read a trashy romance novel over an educational book...If you buy some expensive gadget over spending money to grow your business....I hope you aren't surprised at the difficulty that you are having making money in your business.

4. GIVE YOURSELF CREDIT FOR MILESTONES. Don't scoff at your first commission check of $10.00. Don't be annoyed at the time it takes to get your first distributor, celebrate your achievements. I celebrated each commission check, until they started coming in regularly! Once I made the "Comma Club"- a four-figure commission check, I celebrated again. When my distributors got their first distributor, I celebrated. And best of all, a couple of days ago, I REALLY celebrated as I climbed into my new Lexus purchased with the money I made in my business! Celebrate each milestone, and then watch how fast those milestones pile up!

5. DON'T QUIT. The one thing that really sends me over the edge, is when I hear, "well, I'll just try it for 6 months and see if it works". Let me save you the 6 months and the money- IT WON'T WORK. With a mentality of failure, and that is what that comment indicates, the outcome is already determined. You've given yourself a way out. Presumably people do this to protect themselves from failure. Ironically, failure is exactly what they get when they quit! Before you join a company, just make sure that you tell yourself "failure is not an option. Quitting is not an option." Go ahead and plan to spend the next 3 years growing the business, and you'll be on the fast track to success!

No matter what you think...you CAN succeed in Network Marketing. Yes, it will take hard work and total dedication, but I'll tell you what- if a first-time network marketer can buy a Lexus from money working a business part-time- you can too!

You, Me & YTB

A new year will bring a new stream of readers both in YTB and looking at the YTB Travel business opportunity. My name is Natasha Nassar, and I am the author of this Lens. Throughout the year, you can look forward to all things YTB- including the latest news, information on travel, personal development, marketing ideas and of course, articles on the age old question- is there a YTB scam? (No)

You probably are wondering who I am. Let's start with who I am NOT. I am not a YTB Director(yet...). I am not a full-time network marketer. I have not been in the network marketing industry for the past 20 years. I don't market my business by talking to everyone in a three-foot radius of me, and I no longer approach family and friends to join my business.

Here's who I am. I am an attorney who practices law full-time. I am a YTB Referring Travel Agent (RTA) and Independent Marketing Representative (IMR or "Rep"). Over the past year I have been an avid student of Internet Marketing. As a result of my studies, I market my business primarily on the Internet, and over the past year I've had numerous people from across the country join my YTB team without ever communicating with me until after they join.

How is this possible? I am sure that countless readers of this blog who already have a business want to know--I know this because my inbox is filled with e-mails from YTB business owners... Check out the Success Express Blog for some business building tips.

Even more exciting, is that starting from zero just 8 short months ago, having absolutely no network marketing or internet marketing experience, I am already enjoying a nice four-figure supplement to my monthly income. (Which came in handy on my recent vacation in California). You read that right, just 8 short months!

If a few thousand per month could change your situation, e-mail me and I'll be happy to discuss this opportunity with you.

For those of you looking at YTB and wondering why I haven't already earned millions in my first-year in YTB, let me say this--I am like the majority of you. I've talked to many business owners in numerous companies over the past year, and I've found that most people with no experience or massive Rolodex of contacts don't start making the BIG money until a few years of diligently working their business. There are, of course, exceptions to the rule- super stars,I call them, that take it to the top in a few months or a year--but that's not typical. For the super-stars, I wish you the best- and feel free to join my team here : )

You may be shocked that I am telling you all of this. But as you read my articles, you will quickly realize that brutal honesty is what I am all about. I'm proud to say that I don't hype the YTB opportunity. Why? It is a solid company with solid leadership, and an incredible business model-there's simply no need!

The other reason is that I'm not interested in working with every potential business owner. I am building a network of business owners who have realistic expectations about the time and effort needed to succeed in this business; who are ready and willing to do what it takes to get to the top of this incredible company; and who are ready to learn what I have to teach about growing a successful business without approaching family members, friends, or cold-calling leads.

If you who would be happy to just bring in some extra money each month in the beginning while working towards earning your financial freedom- then I invite you to contact me, and see if YTB is the right business for you. If you have little to no experience in network marketing- and you would like to have a personal mentor teach you how to build a successful business, then e-mail me and I will be happy to discuss the opportunity with you.

Over the coming months, I will share with you numerous aspects about the YTB Travel business. To learn more about the YTB opportunity now, you can visit YTB Travel

I will also share with you my journey to the top in YTB, and how I build my business using Attraction Marketing techniques so that I don't have to chase around family members or friends or cold call leads.

Stay tuned and bookmark this blog now so you don't miss out on all of the great information about the YTB Travel business opportunity!

Travel Weekly Names YTB Travel CEO One of the 33 Most Influential People in the Travel Industry

Given the recent criticism of YTB for what can only be described as completely natural "growing pains" of a pioneer blazing a new fronteir in the travel industry, I wanted to share with you a recent Travel Weekly article which says it all.

The timing, couldn't have been better..... while the uninformed are running around claiming there is some sort of YTB scam, Travel Weekly, the publication which dubs itself the "National Newspaper of the Travel Industry", named YTB Travel's own CEO J. Kim Sorensen, to their list of the 33 Most Influential People in Travel.

Travel Weekly's criteria apparently did not take into account the deeds of "yesteryear" as they said...instead the nominees were selected because they "influenced the course travel is taking in 2007 and we think they'll be just as influential in 2008"

While this honor- being one of the 33 Most Influential People in Travel, is in itself quite an honor. What is more impressive is the list of the other co-honorees sharing this title. To give you a taste of the caliber of the other honorees on this list:

  • The Founder and CEO of Virgin Airlines

  • Former Vice-President Al Gore

  • Co-Founder and CEO of TripAdvisor

  • Vice-President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates

  • Chief Design & Construction Officer for the MGM Mirage

  • Chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts

  • Chairman & CEO of Enterprise Rent-A-Car

This is no wimpy list that YTB Travel's CEO made, and this is yet another indication that YTB is here to stay. Don't believe me? Here's a blurb from the article as it related to YTB:

"...we suspect that he (J. Kim Sorensen) and YTB will be around for many years, forcing all parties to reexamine what constitutes a legitimate seller of travel and challenging suppliers to assess how and with whom, they wish to do business."

My Secret Attraction Marketing Resource

Since I have been writing on this blog, my inbox has been flooded with people already in a business, who are excited about the prospect of marketing their business without having to chase family members and friends, or cold-calling leads. Many of you have asked me to help you build an attraction marketing campaign, but unfortunately, I'm not allowed to work with people who are not on my team. (Not my rule, I promise).

The best alternative I could think of, was to lead you to the place that taught me all about attraction marketing and how to generate more leads and more cash for my business as quickly as possible.

This book taught me how to use the powerful psychology behind "attraction marketing" strategies so I could start to attract their prospects and customers to me. In just six short months, my downline grew by leaps and bounds, and not once did I approach a single one of these prospects. They contacted ME for more information, which was so much more powerful than getting rejection after rejection from expensive leads, and trying to survive through all 100 No's so I could get my one "YES".

This resource has worked so well that it revolutionized the way many people now approach this industry. Over the past two years, this system has changed the lives of over 100,000 entrepreneurs around the world, and on November 14th, the program is going to get even better. Best of all, the upgraded system will be FREE for people who have already purchased their copy of the Magnetic Sponsoring course. There are no monthly fees to pay, and if you already have an existing system account, you'll be upgraded automatically on the day of the launch at no cost.

If you don't have an account, you can get one today just by picking up a copy of the Magnetic Sponsoring course for less than $40. It's a physical course that will be shipped to your home, and you'll have instant access the new system when it launches on the 14th. Bottom line, one year ago today, I was going through my list of 100 warm market prospects, and getting one "No" after another. Yesterday, I got a phone call from a prospect who just called to let me know she was joining my business. This is a regular occurance for me now, thanks to this course. So you tell me...is it worth a measly $40 to learn how to get prospects to contact you? If you think so, then go here now

An Honest Look At My First Year With YTB

This week marks one of the most important milestones in my life. This week was the one-year anniversary of my entry into both the network marketing industry and YTB. Typically, "milestones" include graduation from high school, college, in my case, law school, my upcoming marriage and, one day, the birth of my children. You're probably wondering why I hold my entry into YTB and network marketing in such high regard.

The reason is that it represents a massive decision, a change in my life's direction, where I realized that I did not need to be a slave to my job, that I really could work from home, and that financial freedom wasn't just a fairytale. It wasn't enough that I realized these things, I believed it so deeply that in the depths of my soul I knew my future will be filled with fulfilling relationships with people from across the country, time to spend with family and friends, and financial freedom for myself and my family. Top that off with the fact that not only did I decide that these things were my goals, but I went so far as to take action steps to achieve those goals. I was no longer sitting on the sideline, I was in the game.

But, I'm going to be honest, this year was far from a cakewalk. I started off fast, I read every page in my tool box, I listened to hours of conference calls, I made a list of 50+ people I knew and contacted them. The husband of the one couple (out of ten) who actually showed up at my travel party, haughtily informed my sponsor, business partner and I that the business was a pyramid scheme. His wife was one of my closest friends, I was the maid of honor in her wedding, but still, they didn't think enough of my intelligence or my legal education to think that I perhaps looked into the legality of the business before joining.

Then there were the countless numbers of friends and family who just wished me luck, and said that I should come back and talk to them when I'm making a lot of money. I was pretty disappointed, so I decided to focus on promoting my travel business. I had a great time, got some customers, and enjoyed making some travel commissions. The holidays came and went, and before I knew it, it was time to make a New Year's Resolution. Mine was to get back on track with YTB.

Determined to make my business work, I decided to target people outside my warm market. I did this my making thousands of little yellow "sizzle cards" with my website address on them, and placing them anywhere and everywhere I could. Grocery store shelves, inside books at the bookstore, at checkout counters, on gas pumps, with my server's tip, on windshields...you name it. As if that wasn't enough, I posted flyers on bulletin boards in more apartment complexes than I care to remember, and I spent my weekends putting them on every car in strip mall parking lots despite the freezing temperatures. I repeated this for two very chilly months during the dead of winter. Then I placed classified ads in newspapers across the country, and I put countless "free ads" on the Internet. From all of these efforts, I did get several leads, but most if not all gawked at the idea of actually spending money to start a business or told me that they were "just looking" but weren't interested. After all of that work, I had only one person join my business.

This is the point in time when it would have been really easy for me to give up. I could have just settled for a lifetime of counting my life in increments of an hour. I knew I could make a decent living that way. Of course, there would be late nights and weekends at the office away from my family, and of course, no hope for financial freedom. But, as I told you earlier, before I joined YTB, I had already decided that success would be the outcome, so the latest batch of "no's" ended up being just a speed bump, not a road block.

A few weeks later, I was introduced to the concept of Attraction Marketing and Internet Marketing. The idea that prospects would actually contact me looking for information was so earth-shattering, that I couldn't believe it at first. But I read testimonial after testimonial that blew me away, so I decided that I needed to give it a shot. What did I have to lose?

I knew that the only way I would fail in this business would be to quit, so instead I buried myself in eBooks, in forum discussions, and in anything and everything I could find on Internet Marketing and Attraction Marketing. I would come home from work in the evening and work on my business until the wee hours of the morning, reading and implementing the techniques I learned. Then, in early April, my Attraction Marketing campaign went live. I continued to work late evenings to build my campaign. Sure enough, as promised, a couple of months in, I had people contacting me, looking for information about my business. The more effort I put in, the more people I had contacting me. Then, one month later it happened%u2026

I was at my office when I looked down at my cell phone to see a missed call from my Sponsor. Knowing that my Sponsor thought I had quit the business months ago from my lack of appearances at the hotel meetings, I figured the only reason he would call was if someone had joined my business. Sure enough, I looked at my e-mail and saw that someone I had never spoken with had joined my business. Thrilled, I called my sponsor and proudly told him that I had never spoken with the gentleman, and that it must have been a result of my attraction marketing campaign.

It was then that he broke the news to me, things like that didn't typically happen. The more likely situation was that the person mistakenly signed up on my site, and that in a couple of days, the transaction would be reversed. I knew he was wrong, so I told him that I would call him back once I had spoken with my newest team member.

Turns out the gentleman was thrilled to hear from me. He proceeded to tell me that he had been surfing the Internet looking for information on YTB when he found several of my websites. He said that he liked what I had to say, and he wanted to be on my team. When I told my sponsor, he was amazed. I bet he thought that it was beginner's luck, but his opinion quickly changed when two weeks later, I had another person join the same way, and another and another. None of the people joining my team were in my home state, and this just amazed my Sponsor. In fact, in just the past 2 ½ weeks, I had seven people join my business. This is quite the contrast to my first six months in YTB when I had only one person join YTB on my team.

So, just six months after moving my efforts to the Internet, and one year after entering the network marketing arena and joining YTB, I am proud to say that not only am I a Power Team leader, but I also have received the $1,000 Leadership Bonus.

Even more incredible for a novice network marketer such as myself, is the fact that I have a strong team of business builders from across the country. From what I had seen before learning about Attraction Marketing, only experienced networkers seemed to be able to get the business builders in their group.

Equally as exciting, and a testimony to the power of Attraction Marketing is that I have numerous Canadians, who are thousands of miles away from my hometown, but are ready to join YTB with my team the moment it goes live in Canada in the First Quarter of 2008. What an incredible set of accomplishments in just my first 12 months in network marketing with YTB. I can only imagine what I will be writing on my 2nd Anniversary%u2026 but I have a feeling it will be something along the lines of the fact that I am no longer count my days in increments of an hour.

If there is one thing that I hope that you will take away from my experience, it is this: YTB is an incredible opportunity, but it is far from a "get rich quick" scheme. You have to make a decision to be in this business for the long-haul, and not be willing to give up at the first sign of adversity. The only way you will truly fail in this business is if you quit.

If I had given up after my sizzle cards fizzled, I would have certainly missed out on the best days that were in store for me in YTB. This is a serious business, one which unlike your 9 to 5, can set you financially free. But success doesn't happen overnight, and don't let anyone tell you that it will. You'll only get out of this business, what you put into it. As for me, I am looking forward to seeing what my 2nd year has in store for me and my incredible YTB team.

I look forward to seeing you at the top!

YTB Scam Alert: The Truth On The Financials

Always dedicated to helping you get the facts on YTB, I wanted to address all of those out there that claim: The average YTB Referring Travel Agent (RTA) makes $40 per year (or $70 or some other variation of a minuscule number). They'll tell you that this is based on YTB's own financial records and things of the like which appear to give credibility to this statement.

What these people are doing is simply dividing the YTB yearly amount of gross commissions received by the number of active RTAs to come up with this figure. Common sense should tell you that this figure is a bit deceptive.

Not all have the same:
- Education on the travel products
- Number of contacts to market their travel website to
- Money to spend to advertise their business
- Time to dedicate to their business
- Dedication to growing the business

This isn't comparing apples to apples. For example, I have a couple of people who purchased travel stores just so their friends and family could book on their site. Others really wanted to dive into and learn everything about the travel products so that they could start booking travel for their company, church group, civic group, etc. And then there are people such as myself who joined in October, but due to an unforeseen health issue was unable to start working the business until January. Some are totally new to the travel industry, and others are travel pros.

Do you REALLY think that each of these RTAs are equal and deserve to earn the same amount? No way! The people that focus on the travel business, educating themselves on the products, and marketing their travel business are going to make more money than those who spend an hour or less per week on the business.

Each of YTB's 106,102 RTAs come from different backgrounds, which will determine how quickly they will earn money and how much. Dividing YTB's gross commission revenue by 106,102 won't tell you anything whatsoever that you should consider before you join YTB.

If you take the time to educate yourself and market your business, you should make more than that $40 or $70 the naysayers love to quote.

A similar deceptive YTB scam argument using figures is the one where people say that YTB only shows $X in travel revenue...so obviously the $256 million figure in 2006 was fraudulent. You look at the financials, and hey- they are right...or are they?

YTB doesn't put the "retail sales" on their books! YTB sells travel for vendors. Vendors get the "retail sale" money. YTB, in return, gets the commission. Thus, YTB's travel revenue reflects the travel commission earned. Very simple answer to a very sneaky argument made by the naysayers.

The REAL deal on YTB- straight from the CEO...

I just came across a great Press Release issued by YTB Travel Network's CEO J. Kim Sorensen. He discusses a lot of the misconceptions floating around about YTB. Here's just the beginning....

Dear YTB RTAs, shareholders and friends:

It is important to understand that YTB in no way attempts to compete with high touch, high service "professional" travel agents. YTB is competing for the 80 million travelers who have chosen the Internet as their travel agent. Professionals can and do command $20-$100 service fees for an airline ticket; YTB charges $5. Our "Referring" Travel Agents (RTAs) simply refer their family, friends, neighbors and associates to their travel website, giving them the option of booking with someone they know instead of the faceless Internet. Orbitz and Expedia refer customers to their websites through advertising and YTB refers through relationships. We have gone a long way toward solving the customer loyalty problem experienced by most online agencies....

To learn more about the true sales figures, goals, and training offered by YTB instead of the deceptive information on the YTB scam boards, read the full press release by clicking here.

YTB and the Power of 6

Do you know the Power of 6 in YTB?

I made $1,100 today with YTB (and I'm a network-marketing novice) and you can too- with the power of 6.

The first step is to join YTB. Then, the next step is to get your First Team completed. This is done by selling 3 travel stores(RTAs). You can then either get the next 3 stores by personally selling them or by just helping each of your three RTAs sell one travel store each. You'll make $50 per travel store you personally sell in your First Team. If you help your RTA make a sale, you'll make $25.

Then, you move to the highest paying position in the company (how easy is that?) Your Power Team. Now, for every travel store you personally sell, you'll make $100. Plus, for every 6 in your Power Team (regardless of if you personally sold them) you make $1,000. How exciting is that?!?

I didn't really understand the whole compensation system, then I started getting the checks. It's amazing how you figure this stuff out when the check comes in the mail!

I would like for you to experience the power of 6 in YTB in time for the holidays...so contact me at natasha@yoursuccessxpress.com and let's get started!

What is YTB?

YTB or Your Travel Biz is an incredible home-based business opportunity to transform your life by combining the power of the Internet with one of the largest industries in the world- travel- and the personal touch of independent, home-based business entrepreneurs. YTB combines these three powerful ingredients into one amazing travel business.

As a Referring Travel Agent (RTA) with YTB, you earn 60% of the travel commission YTB receives from hotels, cruises, air, etc. booked on your travel website. RTAs get an internet travel booking engine, full website maintenance, customer-order fulfillment, and a back-office which tracks all of your orders and commissions, for a one-time start up fee of less than $500 and a monthly $49.95 webhosting fee. In addition, as a travel professional, you may be entitled to industry discounts, which allow you to travel at a wholesale price instead of retail price.

Why choose YTB with the myriad of business opportunities out there? Your friends, family, and co-workers already travel. YTB offers your customers typically the same price as the big travel website, and oftentimes lower%u2026 so when given the choice of who to book travel with, who will your friends, family and co-workers book through? YOU! Plus, unlike other travel sites, you earn 60% of the commission when anybody books on your travel website- including you!

YTB also offers you the ability to sell travel stores as an Independent Marketing Representative ("IMR" or Rep). There is no cost to be an IMR with YTB. As an IMR you get your own marketing website, for free! YTB has a copyrighted compensation plan that is second to none, in addition to a Bill of Rights, the first in the industry, which protects the residual income of its Reps!

YTB Admitted As A Member of the DSA!

On September 18, 2007, The Board of Directors of the Direct Selling Association ("DSA") approved the membership applications of 11 direct selling companies...one of which was YTB!

YTB completed the one-year pending period required for full membership in the association. During this time, YTB's marketing and business plans were reviewed to ensure compliance with all provisions of DSA's Code of Ethics.

"The members of the Direct Selling Association pride themselves in their commitment to the highest standards in business ethics," said DSA's President Neil Offen. "By applying for membership in the association and going through a rigorous approval process, these companies are saying they take their ethical obligations to their field salesforce and to the ultimate customer seriously and are willing to make a public pledge to that effect."

DSA's Code of Ethics gives the direct selling industry one of the strongest self-regulatory codes in business today. All member companies are not only required to comply with the Code to be admitted to the association, but must also continue to uphold and promote the Code as a condition of continuing membership in the association. DSA's Code is enforced by an independent code administrator who investigates and prescribes remedies in response to salesforce and consumer complaints against member companies.

The Code itself includes provisions requiring truthful disclosure of product information regarding price, grade, quality, quantity and availability. The Code expressly prohibits pyramid schemes, deceptive or unlawful consumer or recruiting practices, misrepresentation of earning or sales potential, inventory loading and unreasonable entrance fees.

DSA is the national trade association of the leading firms that manufacture and distribute goods and services sold directly to consumers. Among its more than 220 active and pending members are companies selling both via a party-plan method and in the traditional person-to-person style. In 2006, U.S. direct sales were more than $32 billion with more than 15.2 million direct sellers nationwide. The vast majority are independent business people - micro-entrepreneurs - whose purpose is to sell the product/service of the company they voluntarily choose to represent. Approximately 90 percent of direct sellers operate their business part-time.

For more information on direct selling, visit the DSA website at http://www.dsa.org.

YTB: Your Questions Answered

I got the following e-mail the other day, which I think brings up some of the most common issues I've dealt with in explaining YTB to others:

I have heard of the incredible YTB opportunity from a family friend of mine, however I am skeptical because it seems to me that most of the income opportunity with YTB comes from the recruitment of other agents and not from the travel product itself, which means that new reps who sign up will have to come up with a plan to bring in new people under them. This looks like it could take an incredible investment of time and money, since no one will sign up under you if you do not have the expertise to help them.

Issue #1: "Most of the income opportunity comes from the recruitment of other agents, not from the travel product itself."

Response: YTB offers 2 business opportunities. The first one is a Referring Travel Agent or RTA. As an RTA, you have your own travel booking engine and earn 60% of the commission on travel booked on your website. RTA's pay a one-time start up fee of $449.95 plus a $49.95 monthly web-hosting fee.

The other opportunity is as an Independent Marketing Representative "IMR" or "Rep". As a Rep, you make commissions off of the sale of travel booking engines. There is no fee for becoming a Rep, and you get a free marketing website

It is for this reason that the assertion that "most of the income comes from the recruitment from of other agents" is simply false. You can earn a healthy income from being a Rep, but it isn't from signing up other Reps (because it is free to become a Rep). The income is from selling one of YTB's products- travel booking engines.

If selling travel is more your style, you can also make money by selling travel. The most money comes from sales of group trips, especially group cruises.

Issue #2: "New Reps who sign up will have to come up with a plan to bring in new people under them"

Response: They shouldn't if you are on the right team. Your sponsor should teach you a system for marketing YTB. Some teams teach their team how to build the business by marketing face-to-face (i.e, approaching family, friends, and your warm market; going to hotel meetings; using "sizzle" cards, talking to everyone in a 3-foot radius). Other teams (like ours) teach their team how to build the business using the Internet to attract prospects to their business.

Make sure you like the marketing style your sponsor teaches, and that your sponsor can actually teach you what to do! Otherwise, you might want to find a sponsor who builds the business using the marketing techniques you feel most comfortable with.

Issue #3: This looks like it could take an incredible investment of time and money.

Response: If you want to succeed in this business and get your financial freedom, it will absolutely take an incredible investment of time. But unlike your 9 to 5, this investment of time can set you financially free!

If you don't mind talking to everyone in a 3-foot radius, then you can presumably build the business for free (although personally, I feel like my time is money). But, if you don't want to talk to everyone around you, then this business will take some money. Most businesses do, so this should be no surprise. Either way, if you are new to network marketing, you must be willing to invest some money into your education. I've spend a lot of money on educational tools, but I've made it back three-fold by implementing the things I've learned in my business.

Issue 4: No one will sign up under you if you do not have the expertise to help them.

Response: Sadly, people do sign up under people who have no expertise to help them, and I get e-mails from them daily, begging for help. (Unfortunately I only have time to help people on my team). This is why it is crucial that you join YTB with someone that can help you get the expertise you need to sell travel stores or travel, and who markets the business the way you feel most comfortable with.

Ideally they'll have a system to teach you how to teach others how to get the expertise necessary to build the business. For example, my team has an actual step-by-step program which shows them how to build the business just like I have- on the Internet, and how to become a leader so that people want to join YTB with their team.

YTB Scam

What You Really Need to Know

You know, there are REALLY scams out there- ones that are taking people's money every single day. What really makes me mad is when people try to lump legitimate businesses in with these other scams.

If you are truly doing your due-diligence on YTB, you need to be armed with the appropriate information to make an informed decision. Don't just rely on "Scam sites" that automatically deem virtually ALL businesses "scams" except "miraculously" their one program.

You should also be hesitant to base your decision on the opinion of a business owner in a competing business. They do not have your best interest at heart.

Finally, the one thing that absolutely blows my mind is when people look at one Better Business Bureau bad "report" and judge an entire company. First of all the BBB sells "memberships" to businesses. Who gets favorable ratings? their members. And there isn't just one BBB they are independently operated. So, sadly, they aren't the end-all-be-all judges of "scams" versus "legitimate business opportunities". Also involved are the competitors who want to tank the other business' reputation by filing bogus complaints.

Another problem with relying on the reports are that there are THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS of YTB Reps and RTA's. As hard as YTB may try, they simply cannot control all of the actions of every single one of their agents. Sadly, some people resort to hype and lies to get people into the business. If someone has told you that this business won't take any work, and the money comes quick and easy- talk to me first, I'll give you the real story.

One of the things that I tell people looking at YTB is that while it is a legitimate business opportunity, it does take work. This isn't the lottery where you put in $1 and get millions.

This business, for most, won't get you millions in a short period of time, you've got to be willing to dedicate a few years, at least. But, unlike your 9 to 5, this business CAN set your financially free.

Another one of my pet-peeve YTB Scam comments is that YTB Reps get paid for signing up other Reps. WRONG.

To sell travel stores- it costs nothing. This is known as a Rep or an Independent Marketing Representative/"IMR". You do not make commissions from getting Reps to join your business.

Reps sell a product: travel stores. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. To check out a sample travel store click here.

When you sell a travel store, you make a commission.

People who purchase travel stores are known as RTA's or Referring Travel Agents.

Referring Travel Agents pay a one-time start-up fee of $449 and then a recurring monthly webhosting fee of $49.95. Some say the recurring fee is the YTB scam. This is completely ridiculous.

YTB provides you with a fully-functional e-commerce website. They host your website. They offer customer service to your customers. They fulfill your customer's travel requests. They track all of your sales. They send out marketing pieces to your travel customers weekly. They offer you travel training. That is worth WAY more than a measly $49.95 per month. I have other websites, and I know that hosting and design, and order fulfillment can cost way more than the price YTB charges.

More importantly, RTA's cannot sell travel stores. So, when you purchase a travel store, unless you decide to also be an IMR, you cannot make commission off of the sale of travel stores.

RTA's sell a product: travel. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

YTB is not a scam. I have had more fun with this business, and I've definitely made money with it. If you have questions about YTB and you want to know if it is right for you- please contact me at:

The Importance of Selecting Your YTB Sponsor

Because I write so many articles on the YTB Travel business, I get a lot of e-mails from people interested in the business or asking me if there is a YTB scam. Recently, I've been flooded with e-mails, a few of which I would like to share with you:

I am an independent go-getter, who is a visual learner. I am so frustrated and discouraged. I know I can do this thing and change lives, but I feel that because I want to work it part time for now, I am made to feel like a dunce. Because I ask questions and want to know about the business until I am comfortable, I feel my sponsor wants nothing to do with me.

I've been reading the Tool Box from A to Z and learning a lot. But when I ask questions, it appears that my sponsor has NOT read the toolbox and is ashamed to say they "don't know" something and so I get these vague, inaccurate, timewasting non-answers.

I so believe in YTB that I felt it in my spirit and went THAT day, pawned my jewerly to get the $500 and joined...THAT VERY DAY! But now, I feel very discouraged. I even told my sponsor that I was "discouraged" and he/she never even aknowledged that. I sent e-mails that he/she never read.

I'm looking into going into the travel business with YTB with one of my friends here, but before I hop in head first I would like to get some more info on how to market my business in which I work on a military base, and I know this is a open market, but if you could insight me, since you are already in the business I would appreciate it.

I am excited about this opportunity but I really want to find a bigger market then just my Family and friends. Please help me!!!

I made a big mistake. I signed up with YTB about a month ago and my sponsor knows absolutely nothing...I am begging for your help, please.

In addition to e-mails like these, I've had calls from people begging me to teach them how to market their business the way I market my business, which is through "Attraction Marketing." Unfortunately, I am only allowed to personally assist those YTB members who are on my YTB team. Which brings me to the purpose of this article.

YTB is a business. If you have no idea how to get started in your business, you need to make sure that your sponsor has the ability to teach you.

If your best friend Sally or Jim just got in the business, and you want to join with them, you better make sure that Sally or Jim's sponsor or upline is both willing and able to teach you how to market your business.

The other thing you will want to know before signing up with someone in YTB is HOW they market their business. If they market their business by talking to everyone at the grocery store, post office, bank, church, etc. and take their prospects to hotel meetings or home parties, then you better make sure that you are willing to do the same thing, since that is what they will teach you how to do.

If you are like me, and the thought of hotel meetings and talking to people at Starbucks or the post office makes you a little uneasy, and you want to market your business on the Internet, then you need to find a sponsor who can teach you how to market your business on the Internet...or be prepared to teach yourself (which will take considerably longer...I speak from experience).

Starting your own home-based travel business with YTB is an exciting but serious venture. If you know that you'll need help growing your business, you can't afford to just "do your friend a favor" and join under them, if that means you won't get the proper assistance you need to grow your business. If they are truly your friend, they will want you to do whatever it takes to get your business started off right.

Otherwise, your relationship may be in jeopardy when/if your upline isn't willing or able to give you support and information you need, and you end up frustrated and miserable like the people who send me e-mails asking for help.

Once you've signed up in YTB with your team, your best bet for information is your upline. If they aren't marketing the way you want to market your business, then you better get busy teaching yourself how to market the business the other way!

Clarifying Common Misconceptions About YTB Travel

YTB is a great company, which offers a great product- travel! Unfortunately it has come to my attention that some of my fellow YTB Reps are making some claims about the YTB opportunity which are only half-truths. YTB is a phenomenal company, and no half-truths are needed to sell this business, so I wanted to clarify a few things I have heard recently.

1. You get paid to travel with YTB.

This is only partially true. With YTB, you'll make 60% of the travel commission from travel booked on your site- that includes your own travel that you book on your site! In addition, if you market the business while on a vacation, or are touring hotel properties, etc. you could deduct some of your trip. You will need to consult your tax advisor on the deductibility of your vacations.

2. As a Referring Travel Agent You'll Save 40%-60% off of your trips.

This is only partially true. As a Referring Travel Agent, you may qualify for Familiarization Trips (FAMs), which can save you a bundle on a vacation. But just by signing up with YTB, you don't just automatically save a certain percentage. Many hotels/cruises/car rental agencies do offer discounted rates, but these aren't automatic, and they depend on the rules of the particular vendor. I have enjoyed discounted rates, but I certainly wouldn't go so far as to say that everyone will automatically save a certain percentage just by joining with YTB.

3. With YTB You Can Deduct Your Vacation Expenses.

As you can imagine, there are very specific rules regarding what can and cannot be deducted. Talk with your tax advisor about your particular circumstances, but generally, if you can prove a business purpose (growing or marketing your travel business) you can
deduct some or all of your travel expenditures. In addition, office supplies, computers, printers, papers, postage, phones, and even your car can be deducted as a business expense! All of these deductions are subject to limitations, and this should not be used as tax advice. You'll want to consult your tax advisor to determine your deductions.

4. You earn 60% of All Travel Booked on Your Website.

Not quite true. You earn 60% of the commission on all travel booked through your site. Commission rates vary by vendor, but most pay around 10%. So, if a trip costs $3,000 before taxes, then the commission would be $300. As an RTA, you earn 60% or $180. Not too bad for just directing someone to your travel site. Cruises pay a higher commission- I know Carnival pays around 16%.

5. YTB Only Focuses on Selling Travel Sites, Not Travel.

Not true. YTB sold approximately $266 million in travel just last year! YTB's excellence in the travel industry earned it a spot on Travel Weekly's 2007 Power List, which ranks travel agencies with over $100 million in travel sales.

6. If I Join YTB, I'll Have to Approach Everyone I Know About My Business.

Not true. With the Internet comes the ability to reach people across the country about the opportunity. We teach our team how to use Attraction Marketing to market their business. Don't worry if hotel meetings, three-way calls, and coffee appointments aren't your style, or if you've exhausted your warm market- there is another way to market the business!

Why Join YTB?

Wondering whether to join YTB? Here are some of the reasons I joined, and some of the benefits I've enjoyed since becoming a Referring Travel Agent (RTA).

No Inventory. The thought of having to purchase X amount of PV (personal volume) or having my group be required to sell X amount of BGV (Business Group Volume) made me quite uneasy. With YTB, I don't have to worry about all of that like my friends in businesses who are selling lotions, vitamins, etc.

No Demotions. With YTB, once you've completed your First Team (6 Travel Store Sales and 3 Reps) and promoted to your Power Team, you can't go back. That's a much better situation than two of my friends in Arbonne, one of whom made it up to Area Manager, only to have people underneath her drop out, and as a result, she was demoted. None of that negative progress with YTB. Your hard work is rewarded well with a copyrighted compensation system that is second to none.

Comparable Price. I just purchased moisturizer from a friend for $33.50. Could've gotten the same thing at the drug store for $4.99. I bought from my friend out of duty. I didn't want a business where I had to guilt people into paying more to support my business. With YTB, for the most part, the prices on my booking engine are the same or lower than the big-name sites. So, my friends aren't sacrificing anything by doing business with me- actually, they've told me that they've saved money on my travel website!

No Testimonials or Science. I looked into businesses selling juices, vitamins and lotions. But, the thought of having to stumble through a presentation using scientific terms or tropical ingredients I can't pronounce, statistics from scientific studies, and giving a "product testimonial" had me running%u2026.straight towards YTB. No product testimonials or science.

Real Travel Discounts. Looking into hotel rooms for my honeymoon, I realized just how incredible being an RTA really is. Retail price of the Caribbean hotel: $425 per night. Travel Professional Rate: $195. Savings: $230 per night for my 10 night trip, or $2,300.

Easy to Promote Online. I build my YTB business online. I don't go to hotel meetings or cold call prospects. I have people joining my business regularly without having ever spoken with me on the phone! I teach the YTB members on my team the system for attracting prospects to them, so that they aren't forced to approach everyone they know about the business.

New Computer. Because I market my business on the Internet, the decision to purchase a new computer was easy%u2026two words: Tax Deduction. I love the fact that with my Internet business, things like my cell phone and Internet service can be deductible. Perks like this have me looking forward to hearing from Uncle Sam- in the form of a refund check! (You'll need to consult with your tax advisor for the deducibility of expenses based on your particular circumstances).

This is just the beginning of the list, stay tuned for Part II.

YTB Travel: My Experience

I joined YTB in October 2006. When I joined, I was THRILLED about the business. Great company. Great product. Great compensation plan. The business model was so simple, I figured everyone would want to come on board. So, just like my sponsor told me, I made a list of my top 25 prospects.

My first experience approaching my warm market was one I will never forget. I excitedly called all of my friends, and of the 25 calls I made, only one agreed to come over to my house to listen to the presentation. Then that one, about 10 minutes into the presentation said, "I get it, this is one of those pyramid schemes and I'm not getting involved in something illegal". Then he proceeded to degrade the business model. This common misinformed response affected me more than others, probably because I am an attorney, and my good friend had the nerve to tell me that something was illegal. I felt horrible. I decided never to go back to my warm market, and instead, I decided to reach out to others.

I went out in freezing temperatures every weekend night placing flyers on every car in strip mall parking lots, and on what felt like every apartment bulletin board in the city. Then, I made up thousands of "sizzle cards" and strategically placed them everywhere I went: bathroom stalls, bathroom mirrors in restaurants, with my waiter/waitress' check, on gas pumps, on windshields, on bookshelves. I was desperate. I got a few people to visit my website that way, but once I told them about the cost, they were out the door. I even went to a few hotel meetings to see how everyone else was marketing the business, but with my work schedule, hotel meetings just weren't for me.

I listened to my upline telling me that this is a "sorting process" and that you need to go through 100 no's to get a "yes". As much as I wanted the financial freedom, I couldn't bear the thought of being rejected 100 times to get one measly "yes". I wanted a team of 10,000, which meant that there would be thousands and THOUSANDS of "no's" to endure before I reached my goal. I couldn't do it. That style of marketing was simply not for me.

So I chose to work on building my travel business, which was fun.

But one day in February, I stumbled across the concept of "attraction marketing." The idea was that by using an attraction marketing campaign, people would come to YOU, asking YOU about the business. I didn't mind talking to people. In fact, I LOVE talking to people%u2026that want to talk to me. So, starting in February of this year, I started reading up on how to become an attraction marketer. In late March, I began laying the foundation of my Attraction Marketing campaign, promoting my YTB travel business.

Lo and behold, just a few weeks later, as promised, a person whom I had never spoken with over the phone joined YTB on my team. A few weeks after that, another joined, just after reading one of my articles on the YTB Travel business. Then another joined, and another.

My most exciting days in YTB have come in just the past four weeks. While touring the model home of the house I'll be building soon, someone in Rhode Island (thousands of miles away from where I live in Tennessee) joined my business. I had never spoken with them. Then, just one week later, while I was at work, I got a call from someone who just had a couple of quick questions before they were going to join YTB on my team.

Even better...this past weekend, Rich and I were at the movies, laughing at "License to Wed" (funny movie by the way), not passing out flyers on the cars in the movie parking lot, not passing out sizzle cards to the ticket lady or trying to talk about the business to the popcorn guy, and we got an e-mail from a person in California who also just had a couple of quick questions before she was going to join YTB on my team. All I can say is: This is the LIFE!

What a difference from a fellow YTB Rep who had just told us about how when he went on vacation to Florida, he talked to everyone around him about YTB. He was recounting what I thought was going to be an exciting story about how he sold 6 travel stores, but it turned out that all of the excitement was about how after talking to this one particular person, he thought that he might join the business. Ouch! I am SO thankful for finding the world of attraction marketing, because I don't think I would ever be able to reach my financial goals without it!

That is why we teach our YTB team members how to market their YTB travel business using an Attraction Marketing campaign. As a result, we have a group of happy business builders instead of deflated, discouraged team members counting their 100 no's%u2026and it is EXCITING! I can honestly say that YTB and Attraction Marketing have literally changed my life and I know that they can change your life too!

How to Succeed in YTB

Have you recently joined YTB or are you thinking about joining YTB? Are you wondering how you could ever succeed like Rick Ricketts or Peter Jensen? The secret of success behind many top money earners in YTB isn't that YTB is a scam or a pyramid scheme. The secret is that many of the top money earners have worked in the network marketing industry for years and have built a reputation as a successful leader. By virtue of their success in the industry they are able to brand themselves as a leader, which automatically draws more and more people to them, which brings in more money, which brings in more people...and this cycle of success continues.

When I decided to join YTB, I didn't have a reputation as a network marketing leader or a downline. I didn't have a customer base. I just had a dream and the unwavering desire to succeed. But that wasn't enough. I needed to give people a reason to join my team. I needed to somehow turn myself into Rick Ricketts without the downline and millions of dollars. I needed people to come to me wanting to join my business! Impossible you say? It isn't. This should be a relief for all of you out there that don't have a downline and millions of dollars, and who don't want to spend the next 5 years talking to everyone in a 3-foot radius. To do this, I realized that I needed to brand myself as a leader. But how?

By offering something that other people want. How did I do that? I recognized a problem: that most people are frustrated with hotel meetings, sizzle calls, three-way calls, and coffee meetings. I found a solution to that problem: attraction marketing using the Internet.

Once I found that solution I started buying anything and everything I could get my hands on to teach myself about attraction and internet marketing. Then, I started sharing what I know with the world, and developed a special system for my YTB team to learn how to brand themselves as leaders.

The result: I have people joining my YTB travel business on a regular basis without having to make cold-calls, go to hotel meetings, pass out sizzle cards, or get on 3-way calls with my upline. I have people that join YTB on my team without ever speaking with me on the phone. I no longer have to deal with 100 no's to get a yes. I no longer have to answer the questions: Is YTB a pyramid scheme? Is YTB a scam? I don't have to teach my team how to handle objections- because they don't have to! My YTB experience has been much more exciting now that I don't deal with the traditional problems facing most network marketers, and let me tell you- it feels GREAT!
