As Bluetooth technology becomes more popular, the uses for this technology have increased over the years. Today, there are many ways that people use Bluetooth in their everyday lives to help stay connected to the office, create a safer environment when driving, and as a way to create a more organized work environment.

Bluetooth Headsets Types:

Wireless and wired Bluetooth headsets can be categorized into 3 main categories:
1) ear bud bluetooth headsets:
The ear bud headset is a headset having a wire connection to the base unit. Usually, this type of headsets includes an earpiece, microphone, and integrated call answer/termination button.


2) On-the-ear Bluetooth headsets
They are offered as one substitute to the earbud headsets. These headsets usually utilize speakers that rest on the ear in a position opposite the auditory canal, similar to the over-the-ear headsets, but have a head band extending there from that wraps at least partially over the user's head.

3) Over-the-head headset allows hands-free operation and commonly worn by telephone operators and is increasingly being worn by personal computer users for telephony over the internet, gaming, and speech recognition.

Bluetooth headsets are significantly more expensive than wired headsets; however, using a headset will greatly reduce the harmful radiation that you're pumping out of the phone and into your brain.


Dual BTV30 Bluetooth Review:

From my experience it is difficult to find a portable Bluetooth unit that offers the functionality and sound quality of a hard wired unit, especially for under $100.

This Dual unit took me by surprise, especially since Dual is better known more for their entry-level quality. Right out of the box the BTV30 was semi-charged and ready to pair with my phone. Being familiar with the poor sound quality you normally get with these units I like to get make a test call, before wasting my time loading my address book onto a unit I don't plan on keeping.

it's almost impossible to find downsides of Bluetooth due to the great benefits they provide. However, Bluetooth has 2 main downsides when it comes to security and data rate. Bluetooth provides 1 MB/s while infrared can have faster rates for data transfer which reches up to 4MB/s.
Although Bluetooth has some disadvantages, it's still considered to be one of the top used technologies for short range wireless connection.
