Safety
Boating Safety is the fundamental principle which all boaters must keep in mind.
Since 1971, I have always worn a PFD, Personal Flotation Device while underway. Currently I am using the Mustang MD3153 Heavy duty Inflatable. All the benefits of the MD3183 plus the heavy duty fabric improves puncture and abrasion resistance and is easy to clean. Other new innovations include a damage-tolerant inflator cover - no more cracked inspection windows. I will post my observations after I have a chance to use it. Our son has used this PFD two mornings on his job and his comment was "Way more comfortable".

I have used both these models and found them very comfortable and easy to wear, even on hot summer days.
Electronics
I now have the Horizon-Standard HX850S. This is a waterproof, floating handheld VHF radio which includes an GPS. The radio is DSC capable and is SC-101 compliant.
