Bob Mackie Barbie Collector Dolls

Ranked #2,882 in Hobbies, Games & Toys, #32,238 overall

Bob Mackie fashion designer for the Stars and creator of Collector Edition Barbies

Bob is most famous for his Carol Burnett "curtain dress" complete with a curtain rod across the shoulders. And also for the garish ensemble worn by Cher at the March 1986 Academy Awards consisting of black stretch pants, a bejeweled loincloth, knee high boots, a black chain-link top, topped by a huge feathered Mohawk headdress. Mackie who is called the sultan of sequins, or the rajah of rhinestones has also brought his sparkling and imaginative costume designs to the World of Barbie.

Women who could never afford or would be terrified to wear his actual designs in real life can however buy one of his Barbie Designs and dream of the glamor.

I was familiar with Bob Mackie because some of his jewelry (especially his brooches) are highly collectible. I had know idea he was also designing Barbie gowns

I'd say that Barbie has "leveled up"! I was amazed that just opening the box can devalue her by so much, definitely not a toy at this level. Bob Mackie's Barbies are spectacular, she never looked better! Sadly, it looks like I'll never be able to wear a Bob Mackie design. I like the Fantasy Goddess of America ~ reminds me of Cher! Nicely done!
