A Nice Place to Relax

When I get home from work, I like to relax with my family. Staying at home almost seems like work though because there is always so much to do - laundry, house cleaning, yard work - it is kind of hard to relax at home. There is a park close to our house that is very nice and relaxing to visit. Usually after dinner I go there with my family to relax. Bodega Park is a very small park but there are lots of things to do and interesting things to see. It's a nice place to visit and I'm glad it's so close to my home.

Walking and Biking

We live on a quiet street, so the walk to the park is pleasant. The park is narrow with a paved path running through the middle. On one side there are houses, but the other side has a huge open field. Sometimes during the spring the field fills with water, but this year it has stayed dry so far. At the far end there is a path that goes along the field and around the outside of another small neighborhood. It takes about 40 minutes to walk to the park, around the other neighborhood and back home. It's very relaxing as long as it's not too windy.
Usually we'll all walk together but sometimes I'll walk with my little son and my husband and our older son will ride their bikes. They also like to ride their bikes there when I'm at work and our little one is in day care. That makes me glad since it's about the only exercise my husband gets.

Wildlife

There is a lot of wildlife to see at Bodega Park. Every time we go there are rabbits and lots of quail. We also see morning doves, robins, and some kind of little finch or sparrow that has a bright red face. Once in awhile we see a hawk, and sometimes a snake. One night we saw 4 snakes. I've never seen a coyote but I know some live in the field next to the park because we can here them yipping at night from our home.

Airplanes

My husband and our two sons love model airplanes. My husband builds these little gliders out of balsa wood and flies them in the park with our boys. Sometimes instead of taking the balsa gliders we'll all make paper airplanes and fly those instead. The park also has some nice covered tables. Sometimes my husband will get up early in the morning and take one of his bigger airplane projects to the park to work on it. Usually if one of them needs sanding so he doesn't get balsa dust all over the house or on his precious cars.
