Body Acne Is Not Only Pesky But Can Also Be A Painful Condition...

The exact cause of body acne is not known. It is common on the back, chest, shoulders, and even buttocks of many people. Perspiration and tight-fitting clothing are two of the most common culprits, which explains why many physically active women suffer from body acne.

Tight-fitting clothing traps perspiration against the skin, which then mixes with your natural oils, producing a pore-clogging film. The result of which blocks pores which causes blemishes ranging from whiteheads to inflamed papules and pustules. Men who use steroids may also experience body acne as a side effect.

While body acne tends to be more resistant to treatment because it is difficult to reach, body skin is also thicker than facial skin and the blemishes are constantly exposed to friction from synthetic fabrics in clothing. However, many other reasons, such as hormone imbalances or stress also play a part in causing body acne.

There are many over the counter options to treat body acne from anti-blemish solutions, acne body wash to more robust treatments such as antibiotics like minocycline or tetracycline or stronger topical treatments such as Retin A.

However, if these do not work you might want to look at alternative body acne cures which have been shown to be very effective for all kinds of acne.

What's The Difference Between Face And Body Acne?

There's no difference between facial acne and body acne. Pimples can occur anywhere on the body, except on the palm of the hand and sole of the foot, as these are the only ares where skin pores have no hair canals.

However, they generally appear on the face, chest, back, neck, arms, and buttocks. Consequently, you can use the same anti-acne treatment for your body acne that you do on your face.

In general however, acne treatments for ths face are not strong enough for body acne conditions. This is because the skin of the face is more delicate than the skin covering the rest of the body. But with the right regimen, body acne can be successfully treated.

Tips For Treating Body Acne

Wash the acne-prone areas daily using an anti-bacterial soap or a washcloth with a salicylic acid-based cleanser.

Follow up with a 5% to 10% benzoyl peroxide cream (the thicker skin on your body can handle it better than your face) to dry out the pimples, and then use a moisturizer with alpha hydroxyl acid to exfoliate and combat any dryness.

Keep in mind that it can take up to six weeks to know whether or not your regimen is working, so don't give up if you don't see immediate results.
