Body Tattoos Are Getting Popular
To get a body tattoo, you should visit a tattoo parlor or other sterile environment where a professional will take care of the process for you. It is also possible for home tattooing to take place and this has become very popular among people who are not old enough to have a legitimate tattoo done.
Getting a home tattoo is different as far as the equipment is concerned but the actual process is very much the same. It is simply inserting ink underneath the skin through the use of something sharp.

Tattoo History
How Tattoos Come About
There are many people that get tattoos these days and they get them for a variety of different reasons. For many individuals, it is simply a matter of wanting to have something on you that is permanent and also makes a statement. Other people may do so in order to enhance the way that they look in some way or another. This is not only done in the way of regular tattoos but it is also seen in permanent makeup, which is also a form of tattooing. Even though these individuals may have tattoos, many of them are unfamiliar with tattoo history and where exactly the practice came from. You might find it interesting that tattoo history actually dates back for several thousands of years as far as we know. In fact, it has been seen in a variety of different mummies that are over 4000 years old. More interesting than that is the fact that there were also tattoos found on an Iceman that was frozen in the Alps for some 5000 years. There is also a historical record of the fact that people used tattoos on a regular basis in the Bible. In the law that was given to the Israelites, they were forbidden to make tattoo markings upon themselves as some of the other surrounding nations were in the practice of doing. The people that had these tattoos had them for a variety of different reasons, some of which may actually surprise you.
For the most part, tattoos had a religious significance to some degree or another. It is thought that many individuals did not get tattoos in ancient times in order to enhance their looks although this may have been done on some occasions. More often than not, it was meant to display a loyalty to some deity or to show your particular rank within that religious order. These tattoos were of all shapes and sizes and each culture seems to have their own particular type of tattoo markings that they used on a regular basis. By having one of these tattoos visible, you were identifying yourself as being part of a particular religion.
Taking a look at tattoo history also shows that they were used for political significance as well. People of high stature were given specific tattoos in order to show that they were part of a particular political arrangement, even used to signify which rank they held. There were also tattoos that were given to slaves which help to identify them as being part of a certain household.
Finally, tattoos were a way of identifying prisoners permanently. This practice was widely used throughout Europe several hundred years ago but it has also been seen in more recent years. A good example of this is when the Nazis would mark those who went into the concentration camps with numbers. It is just another part of tattoo history that makes it so interesting.

Your First Tattoo
Things To Consider Before Getting Your First Tattoo
If you are thinking of getting a tattoo, you should consider your decision carefully as it should not be one taken lightly. Tattoos are permanent body modifications and are not something to be done without thinking. You should think long and hard about why you want a tattoo, what it will represent for you and the lifelong ramifications that may go along with getting a piece of ink.Everyone has their own reasoning of course as to why they have chosen to get a tattoo you just need to understand a few things before you proceed with your decision. Here are some key considerations.
Does your tattoo symbolize an affiliation or a relationship? If so, is it something that will be lifelong? A parent child tattoo is popular and of course that will always be there. On the other hand, something like a tattoo with your newest boyfriends name on it should really be thought on. Have you considered what will happen if the relationship turns sour? What about if things don't work out, do you really want to be branded with that persons name for the rest of your life, or pay for it to be removed? Try to think of who you may be 5 or ten years down the road.
Think in terms of your job or professional life, is it something you will want on your body? Is it one where tattoos are commonplace or is it one where they are still considered to be taboo. Could it possibly keep you from a dream job in the future? While these questions may seem very distant, they are really important as tattoos are long lasting.
Getting a tattoo removed can be a very expensive, painful procedure. It can be something that is out of reach for you. What happens down the road when you no longer find that band cool or find yourself with that person? Do you pay for the removal and endure the pain of having it removed or do you life your life branded with something you look upon with regret and hurt memories.
Tattoos that are chosen to commemorate those we have loved and lost rarely hold ramifications in the future but even then you need to truly think about whether or not the tattoo is the proper way for you to memorialize your lost loved one.
Tattoos can be beautiful, lifelong pieces of work you will be forever proud of if you get it for the right reasons. You need to take into account your future life position, where you will be who you may or may not be with, whether or not it holds any religious ramifications for you and plain and simple, whether or not getting that ink is really the right choice for you. After all it is a brand you may bear for life unless the thought of a painful costly removal is alright with you.
Cope With Tattoo Pain
Is It Really Painful?
People associate needles with pain and since tattoos are created using needles moving at a rapid speed over and over again common thought becomes it will hurt to get a tattoo. And in a way this assumption may be correct.
After all, you are literally injuring yourself in order to achieve your body modification. So we have realized that tattoos will cause pain but there are a few more parts to this to consider.
Pain tolerance
Everyone has dealt with different pains in their lives prior to getting a tattoo and everyone has their own personal pain tolerance level. For some people a simple pin prick is agonizing pain; where as, another person can break a bone or have a massive injury and find it to be a minimal pain. When considering how badly a tattoo will hurt, you need to compare it to pains you have previously experienced.
Like I said if a pin prick is agonizing, then a tattoo is going to hurt horribly to you. If nothing hurts you, getting a tattoo may simply feel aggravating to the skin.
Tattoo placement
This is another thing for you to consider when trying to determine if you can handle the pain of a tattoo. Different parts of the body are more painful to tattoo than others. You can compare it to the vaccinations you receive as a child.
The ones that go into fatty tissue are no where near as painful as the muscular ones. Areas of the body that have a high level of fatty tissue tend to be less painful, areas that are skinnier or have bone closer to the surface like the feet will inevitably be more painful.
If you are sensitive to pain, it may do you well to pick a place that has more fatty tissue, to help minimize the pain you will feel.
You also have to consider that different places on the body have more nerve endings than other places.
The more nerve endings the more it will hurt because the more nerves you will have screaming at your brain that something is painful and wrong with your body. Genital areas, eyebrows ( as in permanent makeup) and the inside of the lips are all known to be highly painful spots to tattoo.
When considering a tattoo, pain can be a factor that makes you either go for it or stay as far away as possible from getting one. You need to take into account your own personal pain tolerance level and where you are deciding to place the tattoo.
If you take your time, you will find a place to get your tattoo that will suit you and your pain capabilities.

Tattoo Removal Tips
So let's get started so you can move on with your life.
First you need to realize and accept that not all tattoos can be removed. They are meant to be a permanent form of body modification. They are not like a piercing where when you decide you no longer want it your just take out the stud.
No this form of body modification was meant to be with you for life and therefore can be very difficult to remove. You may have to settle for a faded tattoo that you can get a cover-up done over. Lets look at how they can be removed, if possible.
Dermabrasion
One of the common methods of tattoo removal is dermabrasion, where the higher levels of skin are literally sanded off, including the unwanted tattoo. This can be painful and can leave a scar. And it only works on smaller tattoos. In any event it may also only fade the tattoo, instead of fully removing it.
Surgical Removal
Another type of removal is surgical, where they cut the tattoo out of the skin and stitch the area back up. Obviously, this leaves an unsightly scar and if the tattoo is on the larger side, a skin graft will also be required. Not at all pleasant.
Laser Removal
Laser removal is another option but it takes a lot of time and a lot of money. Lasers are passed over the tattoo to break down the ink. After each session you will have to wait 4-6 weeks for your body to absorb the ink pigments.
It can take ten plus sessions to eventually have the tattoo gone, that is almost a years time! Laser removal is probably the least painful of all the options but the reduced pain comes with quite a price tag.
Whatever tattoo removal you look at, do your research. Figure out which method best fits your finances, pain tolerance level and time-frame you are looking at. Some methods are quick, well other ones take quite some time. Proper research and finding the perfect tattoo removal process for you will make your tattoo soon a faded memory.

Growing Popularity Of Tattoo
Why Do People Get A Tattoo
Of course the reasoning will vary from person to person but here are some of the most common reasons why people get tattoos.
Some get tattoos simply as a form of self expression and the rebellion of society. We get them to show off who we are and what we stand for. We get them to show the world that we are who we are no mater what they think or what they expect from us.
We get our ink to show our affiliations and connections. This doesn't have to be gang related or anything of the sort. For some it is the affiliation to the Marines or something we are very proud to be apart of, others it is simply a sign of their family and who they belong to and love.
We also get our ink to commentate and remind us of those we have loved and lost. To remember those who are no longer with us or even those who are. Mothers get tattoos of their children and their footprints, fathers get portraits of their wifes and children.
Some of us get tattoos simply because it is something we want to do and something we want to endure.
Our reasons are as simple as we have gotten our first ink and became addicted. Getting tattooed is an addictive habit. And once addicted and bitten we go back for more ink. And that can be the simple reason behind getting the ink.
Some choose to get their ink to show off what has happened in their lives, to recall everything that has happened in their lives. This is the case of prisoners who have their entires stories tattooed upon their bodies. For those without ink are said to have never lived or existed.
So why do people get tattoos? They get them because they choose to. They get them because they want to and they get them to immortalize someone or something that is close to them and their hearts.
Tattoos have been around for ages and will continue to be around as long as cultures believe in them and others see them as taboo. However, as society progresses, tattoo is fast gaining public acceptance.
