Food. It is the most important thing, if you want your muscle to grow.
Basically, muscles are made from proteins, and consuming proteins, is like bringing bricks for your muscles.
So, what are proteins? Generally, those are muscles of animals. Thus, meat has the most potential, while talking about protein quantities.
But you should remember, that meat has its time, till the digestion process is complete, thus more "quick" proteins have their role in a process of building muscles.
So what is "bodybuilding food" ? Well, there are sets of foods ,that answer to this criteria.
First of all, dairy products. Milk, cheese, yogurts - that source number one. Those are good for morning breakfast, to start the day.
During the day - tuna fish, chicken , beef (beef is slightly worse for bodybuilding, its red meat takes more time to digest)
You can also have nuts and eggs,as food-between-foods.

Bodybuilding food - protein shakes.

Protein shakes. Is this the bodybuilding food everybody is talking about?
They are essential part of it.
Before normally eaten protein (say piece of chicken) turns into muscle, it has few steps to pass. First of all, you have to chew it well. Then it gets into digestion system. Then it is split into amino-acids, and then ,through blood-stream is taken to muscles.
Another piece of the puzzle, is muscles "window". After the workout, the muscle is tired and needs its "food" , to grow. The food, of course, are the amino-acids, that we were talking about before. The muscles get the most out of their food in about 30-60minutes after the workout.
The problem is, that if you eat serious food before, it is hard to work-out (full stomach? Bench press? Hehe). On the other hand, if you eat right after your work-out, the food won't have enough time to get digested and delivered to your muscles.
In this case - protein shakes come to your rescue. Those are highly protein loaded amino-acids, which are ready to go straight to your arms,legs and chest.
Drink them, right after work-out, to maximize muscles gain.

Remember, workout is great. Rest between workouts is even greater.
But what really makes your muscle grow, is ,of course, material, that muscles are made of - which is food.
Large amounts of protein (about 2grams of protein per kg of your weight) , combined with carbs will make you large.
