Not sure how to achieve this boho look?

It's all pretty simple, however there are a few rules. I have included a Do's and Dont's to help you achieve this totally cool look:

•   Don't add too many layers. If it looks like too much, it probably is. Not to mention any names, I am sure you have seen those celebrity photos where the boho look is destroyed by using too many long layers, it is as though the celebrity tried too hard. Also, if you are not very tall, long layers will only accentuate this.. So tread carefully when adding layers.
• Do mix and max patterns and textures. Combine varying patterns to your outfits, it will all flow as long as you stick with the same colors. Also textures are extremely important to achieve this Boho look. This means adding fur, silks, chiffon and chunky metals and fringes.
• Do add those cool chunky shoes to that feminine dress. Adding a bit of pop with a colorful or ultra cool chunky shoe to a totally girly dress is definitely boho.
• Do add some color. Adding some color is okay, it is more Boho Chic rather then traditional Boho which is limited to more earthy colors. For example if you are wearing an over-sized shirt, take it down a notch by showing off your legs with some skinny jeans, keeping it feminine and sexy. Finish the look with a tall boot with a great pattern or a chunky colorful wedge.
• Do bring out your personality. Select the items you love and coordinate them into your outfit. You do not have to overdo this look. Just by adding subtle conversation type pieces which define you will make this Boho look totally rock.
• Do add old vintage type clothes or pieces. One of the great things about a Bohemian look is that it does not have to be expensive. Use pieces you already own and add to it by shopping at thrift stores or your grandma's closet. Another thing is you can really create some great jewelry or scarfs on your own with a little imagination.The Boho look has no boundaries and can be what you want it to be.

This is an easy hairstyle for any type of hair. I just love the looseness of the whole thing, it really embodies a sense of freedom.

These directions are quoted from Taylor Nick who was the well deserved first place winner for this tutorial.

"My look is inspired by all of the bohemian braids on the 2011 runways. It can be worn at the beach or dressed up with heels & jewelry for a summer night out. It's also the perfect accompaniment to cozy knits & denim as the weather cools off in the coming months."

Tools:

2 Claw clips
Bobby Pins
Hair tie, preferably matching your hair color
Fine tooth comb
Hairspray

Steps:

1. Start with wavy hair. If your hair is naturally straight, curl some sections to give it texture.

2. Separate the hair on the left & right sides of your head. Using your part as a guide, continue the part down the middle of the back of your head. To maintain the effortless, imperfect look, use your fingers instead of a comb. Tie one section with a hair tie to keep it out of the way.

3. French braid the free section of hair back to the nape of your neck & secure with bobby pins or a clip. To add more texture, try a Reverse French braid: Alternate crossing the 2 outer sections of hair UNDER the middle section instead of over. To make the look more free-spirited, leave out bangs & short layers around your face.

4. Repeat Step 3 on the other side of your head, clipping the French braid at the nape of your neck.

5. Gather the hair into a low ponytail below the clips & secure with a hair tie. When the ponytail is secure, remove the clips from the braids.

6. Time to add some volume! With your fine tooth comb, tease 1" sections of hair where they come out of the pony tail, keeping the ends less distressed, & secure with a medium hold hair spray.

7. Create more volume & texture in the braids by lightly pulling the loops apart with your fingers.

8. To finish the look, wrap a section of hair from underneath the pony tail around the hair tie. Secure with bobby pins.
