Who Is Charlie Zaa?
A charming and very gifted Latin singer, Carlos Alberto Sanchez or Chalie Zaa on his scene name, was born in Columbia in 1974. His father, Luis Humberto Sanchez, was a well-known musician in his country. He was the one who inspired little Carlos to become a musician.
Carlos started his music career at the age of twelve singing together with his father.
Four years later, he was already singing with two professional music groups, Grupo Niche and Guayacan, both well known salsa bands in Colombia.
His solo career in Latin music begun in 1996 with his first album, Sentimitnos, which was a hit. His passion for bolero music is reflected in all his performances, as he said: "The bolero has always been and will always be,"
In 1998 he launched the album Segundo Sentimiento followed by Ciego de Amor in 2000, and Solo Sentimiento in 2001.

Bolero Music
Romantic and Relaxing. The Music of Lovers
Originated from Cuba, the bolero spread to neighboring Latin American countries, especially in Mexico, and since the mid-20th century has remained as romantic ballad.Trio Matamoros, and the leader of the group, Miguel Matamoros, was one of the Cubans most prolific composers.
Among other bolero promoters were composer Menéndez and lyricist Adolfo Utrera, who adapted well-known poetry to the style. In the next decades, bolero composers such as José Antonio Méndez, Agustín Lara (México), Rafael Hernández (Puerto Rico) and many others would take the bolero to new heights.
By the mid-20th century, bolero rhythm and style was combined with jazz harmony big bands in Cuba and New York. Big artists such as Cuba's immortal Benny Moré carried bolero further.
The rise of salsa music in New York City in the 1970s, the bolero became part of all Latin artists' repertoires.
Later, in the '90s, popular Mexican singers such as Luis Miguel and Alejandro Fernández begun to rearrange old bolero classics for young listeners. Charlie Zaa continues this trend and brings charming old sounds in front of young and old generations.
Romantic Music Never Dies

Slow, romantic music, relaxing and dedicated to lovers. In this way Chrlie Zaa's fans describe his music.
His songs are not new. There are old Latin songs which Charlie brings in front of the young public. With his beautiful voice and his unmistakable personal charm, he conquered the public from South-America, Hispanic US and from Western Europe.
Zaa brought in his music new arrangements of bolero classics by other artists such as Olimpo Cardenas and Julio Jaramillo. He is loved by both young and old public.
He was appreciated for the traditional bolero sounds of his first album. In his later work, in Segundo Sentimiento and the following albums he tried other music experiments and had disappointed his romantic fans. But with the album De un Solo Sentimiento he return to the sound which brought him the first big succes.

Famous Latinamerican Bolero Singers
Olimpo Cardenas and Julio Jaramillo
Olimpo Cardenas, well known musician during the fifties', he was member of several Latin Music Groups like Los Trovadores and Trio Emperador. He lived and sang in Ecuador and Columbia. As solo singer, he launched some very successful songs such as Lagrimas de Amor, Temeridad et Nuestro Juramento. In 1957 he moved in Mexico where he became famous performing a number of very successful bolero songs: Nuestro Juramento, Rondando tu esquina, Fatalidad, Cinco Centavitos, Licor Bendito, which we found now in Charlie Zaa's repertoire. He registered 70 albums.
Julio Jaramillo, famous Latin music performer, he more then 4,000 songs during his career. His international recognition began after he recorded Nuestro Juramento in 1957. He also performed duets with Daniel Santos, Olimpo Cardenas, Alci Acosta.
