Authentic Shotgun Shell Bolo Ties

A Bolo Tie is a type of neck tie consisting of a piece of cord fastened with an ornamental bar or clasp and a decorative tip. The Bolo Tie is a North American pioneer creation that dates back to the 1800's. Some people insist that bola is the correct term, but bolo is commonly used.

Our Shotgun Shell Bolo Ties are a unique gift idea for hunters, rifle, handgun and shotgun shooters, police officers, military personnel, conservation officers and those hard to buy for.

Who Wears Bolo Ties?

In the US, Bolo Ties are widely associated with traditional cowboy dress, and are generally most common in the western areas of the country.

At least two statesĀ - New Mexico and Arizona - have made the bolo tie their official neckwear.

However, with their continual increase in popularity, the great thing about Bolos is that anyone can wear them.

How to Wear a Bolo Tie

Bolo Ties can be worn any way you think looks best for you. One can wear a Bolo Tie just like a regular cloth tie, tightened up at the neck, or for a more casual and relaxed look, loosened down a bit.

Being a casual kinda gal, I prefer the latter and mine usually sit an inch or two below my collar.

How to Store a Bolo Tie

The best way to store your Bolo Tie is by hanging it on a tie rack, over a peg, or by laying it out straight and flat on a clean surface.

The cords usually always have a "memory" and will look best if stored in a nicely aligned position rather than curled up.

How to Care for your Bullet Bolo Tie

As most of our Bolo Ties are made with rifle brass cases, we suggest using Nevr-Dull Metal Polish which consists of a unique non-scratching wadding impregnated with a special polishing solution. It is perfect for cleaning and polishing brass and safely removes tarnish and fingerprints.

Give brass a wipe afterwards with a cloth, lightly sprayed with a lubricant, such as WD-40 to remove any excess Nevr-Dull and to give it a nice shine.

The bolo tie cord itself can be gently wiped by hand with a clean damp cloth and to keep the cord fresh smelling I lightly spray the cords with Febreze Fabric Refresher.

My dad had a couple of very special bolo ties which he often wore rather than the standard tie. Bolo's have such a wonderful country feel to them that I still smile whenever I see someone wearing one. Seasons blessings.

In the 1800s my Grandfather came from Texas to California. I never saw him in a necktie, but a bolo tie loosely hung about the neck was standard wear. I've quit wearing ties, but a bolo . . .
