It sneaks up on you. You start one, then realize there's more just like those dratted greasy potato chips. Being sucked in isn't the worse part. It is not knowing what happens or the historical motives immediately before the self-appointed people who snag copies right away weigh in with their first, but not necessarily best babble on the new "it" series.

Book Shishkabobs
Characters or personalities sometimes need to roam about in your head for a few thousand pages in a several volumes to make their points. Sometimes stopping at the first book would have been the better part of author discretion. But alas, the call of a full health plan or refrigerator dictates next pages. However, there are a few who can enchant historical details and tease out nuggets from archives in libraries long forgotten that make a series oh so tantalizing, like great smelling pie. Amazon
Port Washington, Cullen or maybe its Edward, werewolves, vampires and a teen have not yet caught my interest. MLK in the hands of Taylor Branch or LBJ brought into inglorious relief by Robert Caro to a Chalmers Johnson that details the horridly expensive military industrial complex in a way that makes ewwww just trite. Science Fiction and Fantasy are team captains at making series that fire imagination, causing shock and awe. For 15 years there has been something whispered about an orphaned wizard and some wand waving friends.

Hmmmm, the Google shall have to lie dormant and fallow until I have time to do this up in a way that befits my lowly status and frankly deserves a link to such an unknown spot in web world. I may link them because I loathe the commentary. We shall see. Somebody could get lucky and I like them. I really, really like them - or not!
