If you are a beginner to the world of crafting and cardmaking dont be put of by their complex appearance as making a Bookatrix could not be more simple. I made my first Bookatrix about 12 months ago for a neighbour and since then I have recieved many requests for them and I can now create one in about three hours. I will give you a step by step guide and some usefull hints and tips to get you started on your very first keepsake card. Assembling Your Bookatrix

1. Lay the silver card on to the bookatrix

2. Using the embossing ball stylus tool, follow the channels from the corner to the first page channel and follow it round the board. This will give you the first page of your book.

3. Cut the page out carefully leaving a slight edge around the embossed lines.

4. Lay the lilac card on the board as before and repeat step 2, this time using the second channel and follow that around the board. This will give you a smaller page than the first one when it is placed on top of it.

5. Repeat this with the cream card again moving on to the third channel and follow round the board.

6. When you have cut each page out separately lay one on top of the other to check they are the right sizes. They should go down in size.

7. Starting with the largest page cut a length of double sided tape to fit the center of the page and place it on top of the center crease.

8. Take the second page, (you should have 3 lines down the center) and fold the page down the first outside crease, then repeat with the other side. Don't fold the one in the middle

9. Remove the backing from the tape on the first page and carefully position the second page on top so that there is equal gap around the outside edges and press down firmly to secure. Crease the third page as before and attach to the second page in the same way as before.

10. Carefully peel off a length of chosen peel off edging and place it around the edge of each page, you can use the same design peel off or different designs for each page, this is a personal choice. You will need more than one to complete the effect. Place it as near to the edge as possible.

11. Make a small bouquet using the roses. Bind them together using one of the rose stems. Trim of the rose stems to approx 2cm in length.

12. Cut about a metre length of the pull bow ribbon and carefully pull up the strings from each end of the ribbon to form your pull bow. Secure the strings by tying together, this will hold your bow together. Now using the strings tie the bow to the rose bouquet. The bow should sit nicely at the base of the roses.

13. Attach two or three pieces of double sided tape onto the centre of the card or where you want to place the bouquet. Once you have your bouquet in place on the double sided tape you can now squeeze some tacky glue into the centre of the bouquet to make it more secure. I usually have to do this in a couple of areas. It will take a while for the glue to set, so make sure you check occasionally that the stems are stil sitting nicely in the glue, the easiest way to do this to use some tweezers.

14. Print off your chosen verse onto some cream card and decorate the corners with a corner punch. For a special effect this can then be mounted onto a pice of lilac card if you wish. Using doublesided tape attach to card.
