But.... something has happened to her writing style lately. Did it start with 'Trace'? Things are a bit disjointed, too much going on and too many characters to keep track of. The earlier 'Scarpetta' books are infinitely better.
Personally I think she may be paving the way to bring the Scarpetta novels to a close with this one... just a hunch, but, she mentioned that she gave the tennis coach the 'kiss of life' (after he 'fell' from his apartment) then suddenly thought she hadn't used protection... hmmmm... is something dreadful about to befall Scarpetta? Is it all a bit predictable?
I will buy the next one just because I have read them all so far, but I wish she would go back to her earlier style of writing.

Patricia Cornwell (born Patricia Carroll Daniels June 9, 1956) is a contemporary American crime writer. She is widely known for writing a popular series of novels featuring the heroine Dr. Kay Scarpetta, a medical examiner.
In 2002, Cornwell claimed to have solved the mystery of the Jack the Ripper murders by accusing noted artist Walter Sickert, though her conclusions and methods have been widely criticized.
