For many college students, buying books can drastically cut into expenses. Upon beginning each term we are distributed financial aid checks for buying books and living expenses throughout the term. From there we are faced with the decision of where to buy our books. The majority of students don't even think twice and just go straight to the book store for all of their course materials.
Now the problem with this is that your total cost of books will end up being the highest they can possibly be. Personally I wanted to maximize the amount of money left in my pocket after buying my books so I had to get resourceful. In the beginning I would shop around town for used books in an attempt to save a few bucks but it was never that substantial. But than I stumbled upon BookRenter.com and I realized I could save at least $100 each term on my book expenses, sometimes more.

Renting Textbooks Vs. Buying Textbooks
Some Cash Saving Knowledge
When buying textbooks the best course of action (if you plan on buying the books and returning them for a refund) would be to ask the person at checkout about their return policy.
Book stores do not rent books to students and the return policy for books purchased can sometimes even stick you with the full price if a new edition of the book has come out. This can end up making the overall cost of the book unexpectedly high! There are some things you have to look for in the fine print to insure you get the best deal and avoid paying for the book eventually.
Has Your College Book Store Ever Denied You On Buy-Back Day?
"Sorry we are using a new edition" "Sorry we have met our quota on this textbook" What!!
Have you been screwed out of selling a book back?

Alex Sep 28, 2011 @ 1:08 pm | deleteJaealoo, on the savings table above comparing the campus bookstore to bookrenter, are you comparing rental prices side-by-side or the costs of buying new textbooks from the campus store to renting at bookrenter? If the latter, you should truthfully give an example as many college campus stores now also offer book rental programs--with the convenience of students being able to pick up and drop off as well as the pricing being pretty competitive, especially once you factor in time and costs for shipping. Just my two-cents… -
