How I Became a Book Reviewer
I first 'discovered' the internet in the year 2000. One thing I used the internet for was to learn the art of book reviewing. From there, I progressed onto running my own Book Reviewing service...
What is a Book Review?
A book review (or book report) is a form of literary criticism in which a book is analyzed based on content, style, and merit. It is often carried out in periodicals, as school work, or online. Its length may vary from a single paragraph to a substantial essay. Such a review often contains evaluations of the book on the basis of personal taste.

Gaining experience as a Book Reviewer
Book or Product reviewing is not for everyone and reviews are not often classed as good reading material but they are essential for promotion purposes as well as giving an idea as to what the product, book or film is about. The success of a movie or a book, for example, is reliant on a review whether it's poor, good or mediocre.
In order to begin as a book reviewer, I had to gain some experience so I contacted Eva Almeida, the owner of a well known book review site and was astounded when she accepted me on a trial basis. I had no qualifications other than a love of reading.
The rest is history, so to speak!
I've now been reviewing for over 8 years and I'm happy to review books, e-books, websites, blogs, Squidoo lenses, products, adult toys, internet services and tools.

The Abraxas Series: Books 1-3
Cinsearae Santiago
Christine Vargas comes to in a backstreet alley, mind foggy, vision and hearing enhanced and unsurprisingly very angry. This fighting spirit stays with her as she learns who has turned her into a vampire with a difference and her first meeting with Ryan Price, the Lord of a clan of local Vampires.
The Abraxas Series is, to me, a fresh new spin on the Vampire Legends; it is a humorous, fast paced collection of stories that far surpasses some of the Vampiric novels I've read in recent times. For example, I had to chuckle when Christine stands just a little too close to one of her victims...
However, I seriously believe that The Abraxas Series could have been expanded out a lot more: I would really have loved to read about how Christine progresses from the initial gaining of an extraordinary power to when she finally conquers the ability to control things with her mind. What difficulties does she face? What mistakes does she make?
It doesn't take away the fact, however, that I enjoyed this series very much and wouldn't hesitate to review more of Ms Santiago's work in the future.

Animal Rights and Pornography: Stories

Animal Rights and Pornography: Stories
J. Eric Miller
For me, personally, there is nothing more frightening than the human psyche; present to me the opportunity to read a book within the horror genre that makes an attempt at exploring the intricate short circuited wiring of the mind and I will choose that over a plot based on a blood-hungry mythical beast on a rampage any day.
With this collection of short stories, Mr Miller has satisfied this desire with no problems at all. Yes, the anthology can only be described as disturbing, worrying and even sick but it does make you sit back and think. There's an inherent truth in every single story, and that's the strength of this collection; the possibility that we are all capable of such depravity and loss of control.
To conclude - Animal Rights held me spellbound; the subject matter fascinated me to the same degree as the aftermath of a car crash intrigues many others. It's a reality and it's out there.
