The Best Reincarnation Books

This lens discusses the best books on reincarnation available today. I have read these books (they are part of my permanent book collection) and I can say that they are truly the best. I will NOT review here New Age books on reincarnation or books that I feel have not much to say except fluff, with no real meat.

The topic of reincarnation, of past lives is one that I have researched over many years. I find it fascinating and ever since I've started to search for my past lives, I've read tens of books about reincarnation. Many books are nonfictional, but I've also read some fictional books about past lives that I will share here with you.

Personally I believe in reincarnation and during some of my self-regression meditations and hypnosis sessions I have touched briefly upon some of my past lives. Some people might find it scary, but I can't be but excited about knowing that there is life after death, and we don't just end up as earth and dust once we left the life we live right now.

If nothing else, take this journey as a way for self-knowledge and for getting rid of your fear of death.

Enjoy these reincarnation book reviews and if you find anything that speaks to you, feel free to get it.

Many Lives, Many Masters by Brian L. Weiss

Many Lives, Many Masters by Brian Weiss

For me this is the book that started it all. It's a rather old book from back in 1988, but if you want to learn more about reincarnation, I strongly recommend reading it.

In short, it is the story of how Brian Weiss regressed Catherine, one of his patients, by mistake into a past life. Until then he never believed that people are actually going through different lifetimes, however this one case which expanded throughout years made him a true believer. In fact he regressed Catherine to over 85 past lives.

What you will not find in this book is a high quality prose. Don't forget that Brian Weiss is a psychiatrist. He was at the time of the regressions the head of the psychiatry department at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach. But what you will find here is a can't-put-it-down story that as you read on you realize that it's true (as true it can be without absolute proof, of course).

Is There Any Scientific Proof Of Reincarnation?

In fact, yes there is scientific proof of reincarnation. Maybe the most complete collection of data on past lives was made by dr. Ian Stevenson. Throughout many years he traveled to many countries such as India, Africa, the Near and Far East, Britain, the United States, where he gathered over 3000 cases of children who spontaneously remembered past lives.

Not only that but to make his work truly as scientific and credible as possible, he didn't stop at listening to children talking about their past lives.

He went as far as obtaining further proof in the form of these children recognizing family from a past life, or having various birthmarks on their bodies that exactly match a mortal wound in the life that the child was remembering.

And let's not forget that in countries such as India there are a lot of poor people living who have never ever traveled outside of their village.

So when a small kid of 2-3 can exactly say how a home hundreds of miles away is looking from inside and outside, and who the people living there are, it is really difficult to remain fully skeptical about whether reincarnation is true or not.

"I believe ... that the soul of man is immortal and will be treated with justice in another life, respecting its conduct in this."
Benjamin Franklin

Twenty Cases Suggestive of Reincarnation by Ian Stevenson

Twenty Cases Suggestive of Reincarnation by Ian Stevenson

Once I've started to seriously become interested in reincarnation and past lives research, I got hold of some of Dr. Ian Stevenson's books, starting with this one.

The detailed information about the cases he has examined is staggering and truly mind blowing, compelling in fact. You can see that dr. Stevenson didn't leave anything to chance. As a matter of fact, he dismissed countless cases from his book where there was even the slightest chance of 'tainting' the evidence, a chance of the child's recall not being in fact as true as it initially looked like.

Let me tell you that this book is not extremely easy to read. Ian Stevenson was an academic, and as such, he wrote in a style that is not best suited for the masses. The writing is quite technical and dry. It took me actually a while to finish it.

However if you are a skeptic about reincarnation, there is no better book than this to grab and read.

Old Souls: Compelling Evidence from Children Who Remember Past Lives

by Tom Shroder

This book is worth mentioning because Tom Schroeder actually accompanied Ian Stevenson during his last two trips to Lebanon and he wrote an unbiased (well maybe a bit biased since only robots can truly be unbiased) journal on what actually went through during Ian Stevenson's researches.

While Ian Stevenson's books are rather dry and academic in nature, if you really want to learn what truly went on, what everyone felt and how the story unfolded, then read this book. Consider this book the 'real life' partner of Ian Stevenson's data analysis books.

Children's Past Lives by Carol Bowman

Children Past Lives by Carol Bowman

If I am not mistaken, this was the very second book I read about past lives. My copy was a small paperback that I got from a used book store, but I devoured it within hours.

Actually this is the book that made me search the author's website where I further stumbled upon her Child Past Lives forum, of which I was a moderator for some time a few years ago. If you are truly interested in learning more about your own past lives or you have kids who are struggling with nightmares and scenes that couldn't have possibly come from anything that relates to their life here, you owe it to yourself to check out her forum and possibly even participate.

It is said that indeed children are the easiest to remember past lives. For one they are very small so their mind is not yet tainted with everything we are learning here and now, and for second, because they are so small, for them recalling what happened just before they came into their bodies is easier.

Apparently children forget pretty much everything about their past lives at around the age of 5-7 or so.

This book by Carol Bowman is a recollection of her experience with her son, who started to remember and talk about a traumatic past life. This is truly a book worth reading. I promise you, you won't be able to put it down.

This is the second book by Carol Bowman (so far she has only written these two books), but again it's worth reading. In fact, if you buy her first book, buy both at the same time and read them one after another. They're both great reads.

Journey of Souls: Case Studies of Life Between Lives by Michael Newton

Journey of Souls by Michael Newton

I still remember this book, I read it as one of my first books that taught me about reincarnation. And let's just say that while I remained fascinated about the subject of past lives, Journey of Souls opened my mind to another realm of existence: that of lives between lives.

This book (and the next one by him as well) explores the lives of souls who left the Earth and have not yet reincarnated. If you're still not convinced that there is something out there, beyond death, and if you are still afraid of dying, this book will truly be a life changer.

Michael Newton used a series of past life regression hypnosis techniques on 29 people and what he found was something he never ever thought he would: people started to talk about something else, about a place that is not on Earth at all.

Just as Brian Weiss was shocked to learn that there were lives before the current one for each and everyone, so was Michael Newton when learning that souls have a real home, which is NOT the Earth as we know it.

Truly a fascinating read, one that I keep re-reading every couple of years. I wouldn't part with this book for anything.

Destiny of Souls: New Case Studies of Life Between Lives

by Michael Newton

If you've read Journey of Souls, I bet you couldn't wait to read the second one in the series. But if you haven't read either of the two, get both because you'll just hate yourself for not doing so in the first place.

In this book Michael Newton continues the journey between lives, with further regressions and further questions that he asks of the guides and souls from the spirit world about how they live and what we can expect once our life here ended.

Coming Back by Raymond Moody

Coming Back by Raymond Moody

Raymond Moody was a pioneer in the subject of reincarnation. He was one of the first to discuss past lives openly and talk about his own research with past life regression.

He already wrote on near death experiences, another topic worth exploring, and this book on reincarnation is a general overview that everyone will understand and like. I found it a bit less indepth than Carol Bowman or Brian Weiss's books, however anyone who is truly interested in learning everything there is to learn about past lives, should read this book. It's an easy and quick read.

Across Time And Death by Jenny Cockell

Across Time And Death by Jenny Cockell

Having gone through books written by the experts on the subject of reincarnation, it's time to focus on the books that are real accounts of people like you and me, who have remembered past lives and lived to write about them.

Maybe the most well known of all is Across Time And Death by Jenny Cockell. It is a book that I truly loved reading along with her next book, Past Lives, Future Lives.

When it comes to these types of personal remembered stories, many people say that they only present anecdotal evidence, however if you do believe in reincarnation or are interested in learning more about it, you will devour these personal accounts of such experiences. Afterall these types of books are exactly the ones that we, who want to learn about past lives, wish we could have written from our own recollections as well.

In her book Jenny Cockell says that she always knew that she had lived before. She practically grew up with the knowledge that she used to have somewhere else earlier on another family and that this family and her children still needed her.

In her previous life she was Mary Sutton and she HAD to find her children. It took her many years until she made the journey all the way to the UK where she indeed found the family of Mary Sutton and could reconnect with her 'other' family.

This tale is written in a passionate and caring voice. It is a book that is very well written, so you will find yourself engaged in 'what happens next' pretty much all the time.

While it reads like a novel, it is a true story and when you get to the end of it, you will agree with me: past lives do exist and reincarnation is real.

Someone Else's Yesterday by Jeffrey J. Keene

Someone Else's Yesterday by Jeffrey J. Keene

Someone Else's Yesterday by Jeffrey Keene is another personal recount of a past life. I loved reading this book as well. It is well written and engaging, and you can't stop wondering how it will all end.

What is really interesting in this book is the strong similarity between the present and the past: between the person of today and the person of yesterday. They even have both a scar on their face in the very same place.

Jeffrey J. Keen is a fireman in Connecticut. He keeps having flashback of a past not known to him. Eventually throughout his journey of discovery he learns that he has actually been John B. Gordon, Confederate General, Army of Northern Virginia, who died back in January 9, 1904.

Really an interesting read and I can only warmly recommend.

The Search for Grace: A Documented Case of Murder and Reincarnation by dr. Bruce Goldberg

The Search For Grace by Bruce Goldberg

The Search For Grace is yet another book of discovery of a past life. However it is written by dr. Bruce Goldberg, who is well known in the circles of spirituality and paranormal with his many books on astral projection, Psychic self-defense, hypnosis, self-hypnosis, etc.

This book is close to my heart, however, for one because it reads like a novel (murder is involved) and because I truly love reading about people's experiences with finding out who they were before.

The Search For Grace is a riveting story about Ivy, a 26 year old pharmacist, who was under the care of dr. Goldberg in letting go of her emotional attachment to her current abusive partner.

During the hypnosis sessions, it turns out that Ivy is in fact Grace, who was murdered many years ago. Without giving away the plot, let's just say that the book does keep you at the edge of your seat, especially when you will learn about many of her other past lives where she suffered a similar fate...

This is another book where it all started with something else in mind (in this case psychotherapy) and ended with the story of one or more past lives.

Soul Survivor: The Reincarnation of a World War II Fighter Pilot by Bruce Leininger

Soul Survivor by Bruce Leininger

This is another book that I recommend if you are interested in other people's recounts of their past lives. This one reads like an adventure from the WWII.

I remember a few years ago, while we were waiting for the book to finally be published, I went through every Youtube video that was dealing with this particular case of young James Leininger (there were many at the time, not sure if they are still up now).

It's an amazing story about a little boy who has vivid nightmares about being in a fighter jet, about fire, jumping and about a helmet.

As it turns out, he truly was a deceased World War II pilot who died in a mission in Japan. The book deals with how James' father went about discovering everything he could about who James was. Not only that but it shows what a life changing experience he had since he needed to come to terms with the fact that reincarnation actually exists.

A truly worthwhile read.

Fictional Books On Reincarnation

The subject of reincarnation has sparked the imagination of many novelists of today and with good reason. Learning about past lives, about crimes committed in the past, about dramas and romances, who wouldn't want to read about them?

There are practically tons of novels that include reincarnation either as primary topic or as a side thread, but here are some of my favorite fictional novels that I truly enjoyed reading.
