If you are looking for a new, fun and FREE way to get more exposure for your book, build a Lens at Squidoo!  Basic information here.  Simple, step-by-step instructions available in a free, detailed, downloadable instruction guide.

E-Book

The first section is exactly what you would get if you chose the, "Just Add Water" bundle of modules.  I will include additional modules below, as examples of how you could use them to promote your book.

This Lens is going to use the fabulous author, J. A. Konrath and his latest book, "Rusty Nail" as an example.

This is an author who KNOWS promotion!  You are going to be impressed, not only with his great writing, but his drive and ability to promote his work!

So let's pretend this Lens is titled, Rusty Nail.  Throughout this Lens, I will show you how you can apply the same techniques used to inform you about Rusty Nail, to promote Your Book Title.

RUSTY NAIL

Lt. Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels of the Chicago Police Department is back, and once again she's up to her Armani in murder. Someone is sending Jack snuff videos. The victims are people she knows, and they share a common trait - all were involved in one of Jack's previous cases. With her stalwart partner, Herb, hospitalized and unable to help, Jack follows a trail of death throughout the Midwest, on a collision course with the smartest and deadliest adversary she has ever known.

During the chase, Jack jeopardizes her career, her love life, and her closest friends. She also comes to a startling realization - serial killers have families, and blood runs thick.

Rusty Nail features more of the laugh-out-loud humor and crazy characters that saturated Whiskey Sour and Bloody Mary, without sacrificing the nail-biting thrills. This is Lt. Jack Daniels' third, and most exciting, adventure yet.

Your Biography

A Bit About Joe

Readers like to acquaint themselves with an author as a person. This is a terrific place to put a more descriptive biography and a nice photograph of yourself. Don't go overboard, but sound warm and open.

For my featured author, JA:

Joseph Andrew Konrath (Joe to friends, J.A. to publishers and his readers) was born in 1970 and is a native of Chicago, Illinois. His family moved to Itasca when he was just 3 years old, then to Barrington. He graduated from Columbia College in 1992, and he went on to write both fiction and for corporate and cable TV. He also spent some time working at a microbrewery and has performed improv comedy. For anyone who has read his books, his experiences at a brewery and with comedy will come as no surprise. More recently, he has been teaching writing and marketing to college students in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.

He lives with his wife Maria and their three kids.

He became a writer because he loved to read. He got hooked on mysteries in the fifth grade with Robert B. Parker and Ed McBain. Prior to WHISKEY SOUR's publication, he'd write books in his free time, and for money he would bartend. Go figure he'd write books about a cop named Jack Daniels...

This Marti is a word magician. "Book Squid" is perfect. Wish I'd said it. If she ever decides to sell the lens, the rest of you will have to fight me for it. Her own book is titled, Enter The Laughter. The title alone makes you want to read it. Doesn't it? You rock, Marti!

Book Trailers

The newest way to promote your book is with a video! They are called "book trailers". They are similar to a movie trailer, in that they are designed to build interest and get people to buy.

Most book trailers run from one to three minutes. They can be anything from the author reading a passage from the book, to an elaborate "mini-movie".

Here's a whole lens full of links to learn about this great new promotional device!

Rusty Nail CD ~ Publishers Weekly
The audio of Konrath's latest Lt. Jacqueline Daniels ("Jack" to her fellow drinkers in the Chicago police establishment) is a veritable bargain. Not only do listeners get two actors instead of the customary solitary voice doing both sexes, but they are also treated to the author himself reading a lively new short story about his peppery protagonist. As he did in his first two mixed-drink-titled books in the Daniels series Whiskey Sour and Bloody Mary Konrath knows how to stir and shake all his ingredients, from extreme (and occasionally excessive) violence to gut-busting humor. Breck catches Jack to perfection, making her the kind of officer you want on your side, while Hill brings to life Jack's friends, colleagues and a serial killer known as the Gingerbread Man who makes Hannibal Lector look like a churchwarden. The only problem listeners might face is that if they play this one in their cars, they risk being pulled over by real cops because their outbursts of laughter may cause erratic driving. Simultaneous release with the Hyperion hardcover
Whiskey Sour ~The Readers Room
The Readers Room Review
Shifting in point of view from Jack to the serial killer and back again, the novel rapidly moves forward in what is hopefully a start to a series. The action is fast paced and Jack Daniels with all her quirks is a very appealing character as are many of the secondary, in name only, characters. Unlike many serial killer books, not only is the focus often elsewhere other than the case, there are many laugh out loud sections that can slip by if the reader isn't paying attention.

In short, this is a wonderful novel mixing the best elements of what the genre has to offer and the rare chance to get in on the ground floor with an author that should be on the bestseller list before too long.
Whiskey Sour ~ Pahrump Valley Times
'Sour' has a sweet spot for solving murders
Put the word "crime" in a search engine online, and you come up with over 23 million websites on the subject. Criminals. Crime prevention. Solving crime. There's even a magazine devoted entirely to crime. I mention this to illustrate that people are fascinated by crime - murders in particular. There seems to be a human need to know what happened when violence occurs. However, it's obviously quite a different story when the bad guy is after you. In "Whiskey Sour" by J.A. Konrath (c.2004, Hyperion), the murderer is out there. Will the police get there in time?

Lt. Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels is 40-something and smart, a snappy dresser with a quick mind and well respected on the job. Jack is also tired, plagued by insomnia and annoyed by idiots on the force. And her personal life? Well, Jack has no personal life. Her live-in boyfriend just left her for his trainer. Her favorite hangout is a pool hall where beer is cheap and dinginess reigns. And Jack remembers all too well that she was married once, until marriage took a backseat to the Job. Jack begins to realize that she needs male companionship, and not the kind she gets from her over-eating partner, Herb Benedict.

Now something else has happened, and it's more important than getting a lunch date. A woman has been found dead, stuffed into a garbage can near downtown Chicago. She's naked, stabbed, and the killer has left a lacquered cookie and a note calling himself The Gingerbread Man.

Don't think you can do it?
