My granddaughter is almost a year old, and I've just moved across the country to help take care of her for awhile. My daughter and I both know how important it is to read to babies early and often, so little Brooke is sure to grow up loving books.

I love reading to my babies. Goodnight Moon is definitely a favorite, Dr. Seuss is always a hit, and many others that I can't think of right now. My kids love to read just about anything!

One of my favourites was Shhh by Sally Grindley. Keeps them all quiet until the end then scared the pants of them! (I was and am a terrible mother ....)

We love "Goodnight Moon"... the book is looking a little tattered, as it is still one of our top pics! (my 6-year old likes reading it to my 1-year old, who loves to "chew" on it!!!)

What you mention here is absolutely right. It is very useful to introduce infants to reading and books and that would give thema great foundation. There is nothing crazy or silly about it. They love it and we know it would help the infants.

Wonderful lens about a topic close to my heart. I will lensroll it from my lens about preparing your child to learn to read. Come visit and I'll make you a cup of tea. It would be fun to share some of our favorite books. I still know so many of the books you mention by heart and my three sons are well into their twenties!

Wonderful topic and choices of things to read to a baby. You know, I started reading to my babies as soon as I found out that I was pregnant. I continued even past when they could read themselves. It was a wonderful family time. Both grew to be avid readers with incredible vocabularies.
