I love book trailers and recently designed this one, for John Connolly's "The Killing Kind" http://vimeo.com/39881529 as a pet project, which picked up pace and now has become part of my business.

You don't always have to start from scratch. You can use book trailer templates and change them. I used one for the legal thriller The Kappa File. You can see it at http://www.oliversands.com/

The concept of Book trailers originated in 2002 at Circle of Seven Productions. Simultaneously, Drs. Robert Kenny and Glenda Gunter pioneered the concept in K-12 environment. The term 'book trailer' is trademarked by Circle of Seven Productions and the term 'digital booktalk' by Learning Thru Fantasy, LLC. Many iterations of the concept have evolved over the years. But in the original concept, scenes that demonstrate the main idea are re-enacted. Book trailers may or may not be actual 'commercials' for specific books. More accurately in the K-12 environment, they are commercials for reading.

Book Trailers is very likely not new idea, I believe it started with Chap Books, demand from many publishers to sent them synopsis and first chapter or two. From there to Book Trailer is not hard to get... Well chosen topic, Making Trailer Books can be great business opportunity!

Congratulations on a fine lens, I have a few myself, although the one I am very much focusing on is called Futbol Mania.
I do have a question, which may seem odd, however I have noticed this "feature" in the latest LOTD, in relation to the modules, I am not sure if this only applies to the text modules, the "boxed edge feature", how exactly do you create that? When I type in my text and send the info to be published I do not recall seeing this in the edit section of my lens.
If you could let me know how you did that I would appreciate it, I believe it makes the lens more polished.
    Thank you and well done!

Fascinating, Crystal. Believe it or not, I didn't even know there was such a thing. This exciting new arena of advertising is awesome. I watched a few of the movie trailers and agree that some of them are just way overdone and some of them just don't quite get the message across. However, many of them are just right and are certainly a compelling reason to buy. Excellent lens on a great topic! Thumbs up.

Hi - I produce impactful, cost-effective book trailers and web videos. In answer to the question below - two book genres that I can tell you book trailers work very effectively for are the Young Adult and the Personal Growth genres.
Two of my trailers have just been chosen as first round viewing selections at the 2010 World Independent Film Expo! Translating the essence of a book visually to entice the viewer to need know more is what I do best. Hope you'll stop by my web site or YouTube channel and check out my work: YouTube/NoWickiProductions or NoWickiProductions.com. Enjoy!

In addition to writing books I also make special interest videos. I put trailers on Youtube for both my videos and books. Videos have had over 100,000 hits and resulted in 12 sales. Of course it was free, so can't complain too much. Trailers can be viewed by searching on the name, flynbrick or my site: flyingbrickvideo.com

Terrific lens on book trailers! It was both informative and offered a great experience. As a tip, I'd like to offer that when you are ready to launch your book trailer, ensure that it is based upon keyword phrases that can get your trailer found in the search engines. The title of your book and your name may not be enough. You should discuss this with the company that will be developing your trailer prior to creating it. Always think about book marketing first! :)

I thought you'd like to see another way to use video to help you sell books. It is interactive and I use it as a call to action on my book's Website. Visit theDyodyne Experiment Website when you have a moment.

It was developed by ProAuthors.com. The site even allows you to demo the technology on your own book's Website from their demo page. Pretty cool. The videos can also be saved in a format for online distribution.

    Thank you,
    Michael

http://www.cosproductions.com have really cool book trailers. Some of them have actors and real scenes. Many of Christine Feehan's does that I have seen.

What an interesting way to get people interested in reading! Book trailers are like movie trailers, but for books! You can find them all over the internet now, but here is a site that's featuring them on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/booktrailers
