From the lens From Boomer to Senior.

Our lens is a work in progress (sort of like baby boomers), so tell me what you'd like to see here. Are you a boomer turning senior? What topics are of interest to you? Here's your opportunity to speak up and help me continue to improve my lens! Not a boomer? I'd love to read your comments, too!

Nice lens. Being raised in the TV Generation, I love TV sitcoms. I actually caught an episode of "Hazel" last week.

I'm a senior raising a grandchild and planning to homeschool this year. I don't have time for all this nonsense. However, I am getting ready to cover all the mirrors. Great lens, angel blessed.

I'm a boomer married to a senior. He's retired ... I'm not. Trying to earn my living online so as to be there for him during his "reclining" years. It's tough.
  • Ladymermaid Jul 26, 2011 @ 8:31 am | delete
I'm a boomer who is retired but not a senior citizen. I'm inching up there, but as I have been retired for awhile now due a disability, it is like everyone else is just catching up to me ;)

I have passed the boomer stage and am now happily a senior citizen! I even had a graduation for myself! Our adult kids are our best friends! It's wonderful!

The way I see the economy at the moment is the boomers are keeping everything together with the earning power we collected through the years. Without our spending power the States would really be in a recession. I still have adult children at home, but I did feel separation feelings when my oldest decided to get her own place at nineteen.
I love my age. I still feel like a boomer instead of a senior.
  • Marvagold Nov 11, 2010 @ 6:49 am | delete
Aging, keepin health, phisically and mentally and rebranding. It is not easy to change a mid career or to start all over again at the age of 50.
  • Blkeeslar Oct 10, 2010 @ 2:45 pm | delete
Yes the physical aspect of aging is something we must all learn to deal with, but when I look back at my grandparents they were no where near as physically active as I am. ( I am 63). My 8 year old grandson told me this summer that I was fun, not like other grandmas. We had just come in from fishing in 100 degree heat. That made me feel so good! Staying active and fit is the key. Great lens, I'll be back

My fist child is off in college. This is her second year. I still miss her terribly but I no longer cry each day. I'm not sure how it will be if she gets a job away from us this summer. I wonder if I will have energy for grandchildren.
  • Susan52 Jan 31, 2010 @ 6:35 pm | delete
Evelyn, I think my energy has actually picked up since I've pretty much gotten over the empty nest syndrome. It's amazing how that can drag you down. Of course both my children are currently within 100 miles, so it's easier for me than it will be when one likely leaves the area upon college graduation later this year.

It is so great to read this and know that there is a whole bunch of us, and that we aren't alone! There are so many good things to read on here. Growing older is sometimes challenging, but we really don't have a choice but acceptance, at least that is the only positive option! I will be back when the senior moments get too hard to handle alone...LOL!

Ah Susan -- dropped back in to rate your lens but see I've already been here in April! Love your creative approach with your lenses.
  • Cumberland Aug 1, 2008 @ 3:05 pm | delete
I just reached the "60" milestone in July. I truly believe age should be approached with equal parts humor, caution, expectation, curiosity and humor. The two parts of humor are essential.

Whatever you may do, don't forget to be an embarrassment to your children.

What a fine Boomer lens you've started here. Tons of great info, links and goodwill to boot! I too am a BB, yet I've been a practicing survivalist most of my life and have been trying to take care of my health all along. I'm into eating a lot of LIVE foods and the only wrinkles I think I really have are the crows-feet, I think they are called, in the corners of my eyes. Some days there is a puffiness under my eyes and other days the skin there, is a little loose and sort of saggy. If that's wrinklin', I can live with that. :-)

I'll be back and I'll check out more of your lenses too. Just found ya to-day.

    Five stars for sure...

Not quite at the empty nest. One has flown and two to go. Helpful info here! 5* and a lensroll to my Oscar's Drive-In Lens. San Diego Boomers will recognize it. ;-)

Great lens! I've given it 5 STARS. I'd love for you to visit my lens, see what I'm about, and say hello if you'd like while you are there :-)

The only section on this page that doesn't apply to me is the TV page - I gave my TV away. I find now instead of TV I walk, read, or work on the internet. Life, she is good.

Hi Susan--thanks for visiting poor poor Vincent who surely wouldn't be able to handle menopausal women today--he'd probably cut off his other ear too! ;-) Love this lens. I won't be confessing my true age, just not yet -- I prefer a little mystery--keeps 'em guessing. AB

Excellent lens. I'm confused about who falls within the Boomer category. Years ago when I read about Boomer's I didn't fall within the category, then several years later, it seemed I was close, now it seems I am included (I just turned 49. It seems to be a moving target.

I'm a Boomer, and I got a B grade only because it's been nearly 5 years since my nest has been empty.
  • RinchenChodron Jan 21, 2008 @ 5:38 pm | delete
Thanks for your lens. I am a boomer, but there is no empty nest. That's kind of a concern since I have no children to care for me in my old age. I don't want to stay alone, but I hesitate to do eHarmony. I'm ready to find someone to travel with and enjoy life. I'm still a little young to retire, but am on the verge. I'll have my own boomer lens soon - it is now February - check back anytime after March.

Another great lens! Another 5 stars for you. Keep up the good work - it almost makes aging wonderful to read the jokes. Dad lived to 94. I have a long way to go.

Another great lens you have. I don't think you're really a senior until you're . . . hum . . . maybe 70. Then again, the grocery guy asked if I needed help with my groceries today. HUM. I'm 45.

  • giddygabby May 27, 2007 @ 1:05 pm | delete
Sure there's stuff I'd like to know. What's changin' about the way we Boomers have fun? Do agin' hippies still smoke pot? DID they fry their brains on drugs? Do we dance together more than apart now? How many of us are still hang-glidin' and surfin? Who are our favorite tunesmiths?
