Dotsie Bregel - Writer, Speaker, Boomer Women Expert

Dotsie Bregel is the founder of the National Association of Baby Boomer Women, and BoomerWomenspeak.com, the number one sites on major search engines for "baby boomer women".

Through these venues Dotsie works hard to connect, encourage, educate, and empower baby boomer women.

Learn how Dotsie's mid-life crisis became her mid-life passion.

Dotsie Bregel "found" me through a short piece I'd written that appeared in the National Association of Women Writers newsletter. She invited me to write a story for a Boomer Women project she was working on.

I've created this page as a way to thank Dotsie for encouraging me and to create a place for other women who have been encouraged by this wonderful woman to share their stories as well.

Thank you Dotsie for giving me the courage to believe in myself!

How Dotsie Bregel Encouraged Me

I don't think Dotsie knew that my article in the NAWW email newsletter was my very first bought-and-paid for article.

I don't think Dotsie knew how excited, and encouraged, and thrilled, and frightened, and happy, and overwhelmed with emotions I felt when I received her invitation. You see, Dotsie's invitation said a lot more to me than just "Would you like to write an essay?" To me, Dotsie's email said, YOU REALLY ARE A WRITER!

Dotsie Bregel's invitation gave me the courage to think I might be able to do the one thing I'd wanted to do since I was a very small girl, and that was to stay home and write for a living.

With the NAWW newsletter article sale,I thought I'd just gotten lucky but when I got that invitation from Dotsie Bregel to write something for her, it gave validation to my dreams. For the first time in my life I felt like I really could be a writer, and it made my writing career suddenly seem possible.

Shortly after that email I wrote a story for Dotsie which is published at the BoomerWomenSpeak.com website. I won a prize in a writing contest and I wrote my now famous peacock story which was published -in print- and distributed in local newspapers across the nation.

I joined the BWS forum and made some very special friends, women who I plan to keep in my heart for the rest of my life!

Dotsie's project went on to become the #1 website and forum for boomer-aged women, Boomer Women Speak, where she continues to encourage and connect women from all over the world. She also created the National Association of Baby Boomer Women (NABBW) where Dotsie Bregel continues to enlighten, educate, and empower. Her work has been mentioned in Time Magazine, in the AARP newsletter and in newspapers all over the country.

I'm so grateful to Dotsie Bregel for creating The Boomer Women Speak web site.
I've been a member of that wonderful site over four years, and go there daily to vent emotions and listen to the opinions of others. Boomer women have enriched my life. No matter what area of existence I question, boomers all over the world inject understanding wisdom and advice.
From current affairs to helpful hints to jokes and prayers, the boomer forum has become a
part of my daily life. I cannot thank Dotsie enough for this vessel of friendship, understanding,
and comradery.

Listening to the council Dotsie so freely gave the women on Boomer Women Speak, no matter what they had to say, taught me patience, gentleness and understanding without prejudice. No matter what my occupation was at the time, I always felt welcome at BWS. Dotsie runs, quietly behind the scenes, a place to come and be yourself, be nurtured and she does it with a no nonsense, yet soft insistance. Dotsie by example has encouraged me to be myself, and empowered me to stay focused on the important things in my life. For that I thank Dotsie and will be her forever friend...

Here's My Story

Learning the Definition of a New Word

Here's a link to that story I wrote at Dotsie's invitation. Her project took her on to a different path than she first imagined and instead of publishing the stories she collected into a book, she published them at her website, Boomer Women Speak.

The way people/sites/lens/blogs create these connections is magic. A magic I enjoy and need, to continue writing from home. Thanks so much, Robin, for doing this site so I can find what Baby Boomer Women is all about.
