- Well, this sounds like a great idea for meeting a real he-man ... look out for the mosquitoes.

- Loved your adventure in the Boonies and it was interesting to learn where that expression came from. Blessed by a SquidAngel.

- I enjoyed boonie stomping with you Dave and I went barefoot so I wouldn't wreck a pair of shoes. What an adventure! I especially enjoyed the black and whites.

- What a vicarious experience for me. I would not dare venture to the "boonies" with the wriggly creatures around. Thanks for the fun read.

- The jungle would give me pause due to crawling creatures. I love the outdoors, but I think I would be very hesitant in the jungle. Fun to see the pictures from "back when."

- I had no idea that was where the word boonies came from. I love the pictures, although I don't know that I'd really like to go tromping around in the tropical jungle that much.

- Now I know where the word "boonies" came from. Ive used it all my life and, I confess, I hadn't wondered about its origins. Guam looks absolutely beautiful. It's only been a name for me until now, and when I've pictured it, I was picturing something like a gigantic military base, since the only people I have known from there were military families, that I'd only met a couple of times when they were visiting relatives who were my friends. They never really talked about what their home was like.

- Ah, yes -- I've always know about Down in the Boondocks courtesy of Billy Joe Royal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVPJvk4t6SQ -- and occasionally we could be found to venture out into the boonies! But, not generally. ;)
