Boracay is the island destination of choice for tourist around the world who likes to forget about their problems and simply enjoy life. Here's a brief description of this island paradise:

Boracay has been named the #1 among the Best Beaches in the world in 2007 by Yahoo Travel ( you can check the link in the link section to verify). It is the most popular beach destination in the Philippines. Boracay Island is about 7km long, and has several other more remote beaches around the island. Boracay is a vacationer's paradise, with luxury 5 star hotels, through traditional bungalows; something for anyone's budget and taste. There are all kinds of activities on the island, most famous for are diving, kiteboarding, and windsurfing. There are many amazing restaurants on Boracay Beach with food from around the world. Boracay is above else famous for it's nightlife, with discos and bars of all kinds that are alive until the late morning.

The powder white sand of Boracay is simply amazing and also known as the Long Beach. This best part of Boracay is situated at the West Coast between the villages of Balabag and Angol. This four kilometer "White Sand Beach" is believed to be the the "Finest Beach of all Asia" by tourist, visitors, travelers and adventurers.

Clear skies and crystal clear blue waters of Boracay is centered on the beautiful long stretch of White Beach. White Beach is divided into Boat Stations for orientation, although it is one continuous beach connected with a long footpath, and is the feature of the island that worshipers come for. Bulabog Beach is the secondary beach, less than a kilometer from White Beach, and is the watersports center of the island. In addition, there are several other resorts around the island.

Getting to Boracay

By plane from Manila, the Manila Domestic Airport has flights to Boracay daily either via Kalibo which is 45 minutes or via Caticlan which is 30 minutes travel time. From the Kalibo Airport, air-conditioned vans and buses for hire are available to take you to the Caticlan Jetty Port, where boats are stationed to take you to the island of Boracay. The bus trip takes around an hour and a half and the boat ride only takes 20 minutes. From Caticlan Airport, you can take a 5 minute motorized tricycle to Caticlan Jetty Port, from there, boats are waiting to take you to Boracay.

From Cebu, Sea Air and Asian Spirit Airlines fly to Kalibo two times weekly where buses can take you to Caticlan.

From Iloilo, there are air-conditioned vans and buses going to Kalibo or directly to Caticlan, where boats going to Boracay are stationed.

    Boracay was truly a paradise, until it got "discovered" by the tourism industry. Your lens is nice but it makes me sad to see what foreign investors have done to it. Most of the local population did not benefit from the exploitation of their island. I hope that people will gain respect for our natural treasures, and your lens can help achieve that.
