Borders for Thanksgiving Crafts

The Thanksgiving Turkey Border as well as the rest of the Thanksgiving clip art on this page are 8" x 10.5 to fit a letter size piece of paper with a .25 border. However, they can all be re-sized to fit your needs based on their use and your printer or paper.

Any of these images could be used as the front cover of a Thanksgiving Greeting Card by resizing the image and placing it on the right hand side of a landscaped oriented page. Customize the greeting on the outside and then fold the paper in half and either write or print a sentiment inside. You can also make a custom envelope to go with it. How to Use Borders for invitations, Posters, Sgns:

At full size, the borders are one from the edge of the paper plus whatever size you need to have your printer set at to print. (Usually .25 on all sides except possibly .5 inch at the bottom for an inkjet printer.

Type in your information making sure to give the location, time and date and center it. Choose a font appropriate to the occasion your poster is advertising either formal for a formal dinner, something more casual for a casual affair, or even a fun font for events that are meant to have a lighter appeal.

Although these borders at full size are letter size, you can always resize them to fit a half page size card to mimic the size bought in stationery stores. Use 67lb vellum card stock and use a half fold size envelope you have either bought or made yourself out of wrapping paper or a matching 11 x 17 piece of paper.

As stated before, the borders on this page are resizeable and can be used in any size other than their original size. For example, you could resize these images to make Place Cards for everyone. To do this you would need to divide your letter size paper into 2 columns wide and 4 sections long. The easiest way to do this is to first divide your paper in half and then divide those halves into quarters.

Since Place Cards usually need a way to stand up, I recommend using a 67lb vellum card stock or whatever card stock your printer will print on. We will be making a total of 4 tent cards, two from the top half of the page and two from the bottom half of the page. To do this, I will skip the top quarter of the page and put our image in the second quarter, one in each column. We will then skip the third quarter and place our images again in the 4th quarter one in each column. Type in the names of your guests one by one, print them out and then cut the paper in half both between the 2 columns and lengthwise. You should now have 4 images a quarter of a page big with the names and image at the bottom of each card. Fold these cards in half horizontally and you should now have a tent card to use as placecards.

Use these black and white borders to make 11 x 17 posters of flyers by laying your copy out as a letter size image, printing it out on your black and white laser printer then taking it to your local copy shop. Have the copy shop copy your image at 200% to 11 x 17 paper in a fall color that will contrast nicely with the black and white clip art: Orange, Yellow, Tan, etc.

Posters can be used to advertise Thanksgiving related activities such as a community prayer breakfast, Thanksgiving Dinner at the soup kitchen, etc.

Another way these Thanksgiving borders can be used are for labels or name badges to help new family members feel right at home by helping them identify and learn everyone's name at a large family gathering.

The easiest way to make labels or name badges is to use the templates that are already set up in Microsoft word. To use the templates, check under the "Tools" menu and click on Letters and Mailings>Envelopes and Labels. Click on the Labels Tab and then select options. Now you will be able to select what ever size label or name badge you want as well as choose popular brands like Avery that you can buy printable labels or reusable clear sleeves to make name badges already equipped with a pin attached.

Who says you have to wait until Christmas to let friends and family know what you're up to? Beat the crowd and send your update in November to let everyone know why you're thankful this Thanksgiving.
